Liga IV

The 2022–23 Liga IV was the 81st season of Liga IV and the 55th since the 1968 administrative and territorial reorganization of the country, representing the fourth tier of the Romanian football league system. The champions of each county association played against one from a neighbouring county in a play-off for promotion to Liga III.

The counties were divided into seven regions, each consisting of six counties and the draw was made on 2 February 2023.^[1]

The matches were played on played on 17 and 24 June 2023.^[2]

Championship play-off

The first two teams in each series of the regular season will meet twice (six matches per team). The teams start the championship play-off with the records from the regular season accumulated with the teams ranked 1-9. In the play-off participate only teams that have legal personality and hold C.I.S.(Certificate of Sports Identity) issued by the Ministry of Youth and Sport and teams with at least one group of children and juniors (U19, U17, U15, U13, U11).^[10][12]

The regular season was played in a single round-robin tournament across two series, followed by an eight-team championship play-off (the top four teams from each series started from scratch) and a two-series relegation play-out (teams maintained the points accumulated in the first stage).^[14]

The teams ranked 5th–11th and 5th–10th in their respective series competed in the play-out in a double round-robin tournament. Unlike the championship play-off, the teams retained the points earned during the regular season.[^[14]

Liga IV Brașov County was played in two stages: a regular season with ten teams in a home-and-away format, followed by a championship play-off and play-out. The top five teams advanced to the play-off and the bottom five to the play-out, both played as double round-robin tournaments, with all regular-season points carried over and no other records retained.^[27]

Liga IV Brăila County was played in two stages: a regular season with eleven teams in a home-and-away format, followed by a championship play-off contested by six teams and a play-out contested by five teams. In both phases, teams played each other twice, starting with their regular-season points halved and rounded upwards, with no other records carried over.
