The West Acehnese dialect is a dialect of Acehnese spoken on the southwestern coast regencies of Aceh,[2][3] which mainly includes the regencies of West Aceh, Nagan Raya, Southwest Aceh, and South Aceh. West Aceh is one of the five major dialects of Acehnese. The West Acehnese dialect is referred to with various names, which includes the Meulaboh dialect, the Southwest dialect, and the Tunong dialect.[4][5]
The West Acehnese dialect is mostly intelligible to Standard Acehnese or North Acehnese speakers, with the major difficulties being vocabulary.[6][3]
