Giving you back your draft

As part of my Sisyphean EiC duties I am looking through every Signpost page to find whatever random crap needs to be taken out, like abandoned drafts from decades ago. I came upon Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Newsroom/Featured content dispatch workshop/Spotchecking plagiarism, which seems to have been published as Wikipedia:WikiProject_Military_history/News/June_2011/Op-ed. As far as I'm concerned, this makes it yours -- I am moving it to Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Newsroom/Featured content dispatch workshop/Spotchecking plagiarism. I looked through the PrefixIndex of your project's newsroom and I couldn't find anywhere else more appropriate to put this. If you don't want it (all of the content has already been published in that op-ed), I will G6 it. jp×g 06:01, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

November issue

I have taken the liberty of adding an Op-Ed and a book review. Hope you don't mind. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 23:52, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Tks so much Hawkeye, I was afraid it might be rather a thin issue but you've filled it out very nicely! Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 23:24, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A review from me is here if there is room. If not, maybe next month! Cheers, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 07:08, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Tks PM, we'll fit it in this month. Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 10:24, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Crosswords

Not sure whether the publication should lower itself to include these, but have had a go with a simple one here. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 21:40, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bugle book reviews

Hi Nick, Hawkeye, I'd like to despatch this month's issue in the next 24 hrs so just checking with the usual suspects if there's any book reviews you have up your sleeves... Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 17:16, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not from me this month Ian. I was going to write one, but have been very busy on the last couple of weekends. Nick-D (talk) 01:26, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've been away all week and only just got back. I did have one up my sleeve, so I have added it to the Book Reviews page. If you could give it a quick proof read, that would be great. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 02:47, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Tks for prompt responses, guys -- good topic Hawkeye, hope I find time to read it sometime. Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 09:09, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've written one up at User:Hog Farm/Book review/Smith Bayou that can be used in the next edition. Hog Farm Talk 03:48, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Ian Rose and Nick-D: - just making sure that this was noticed. Hog Farm Talk 20:30, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I missed it! I'll post it now. Thanks for contributing this. Nick-D (talk) 22:20, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

August book reviews

@Nick-D: I added a fourth book review to the book reviews for August. We can hold one over if you think this is too much. Lately I have been reading and reviewing books faster than the Bugle publishes reviews, so I have a backlog. (I also tweaked the code for creating the This Month in Military History links - I had originally coded them on the assumption that the next edition is created the month before, but so far they have been created in the month.) Hawkeye7 (discuss) 03:41, 10 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Nick-D (talk) 05:16, 10 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Book review

@Nick-D, Ian Rose, and Hawkeye7: - User:Hog Farm/Book review/Geise is a new book review that can be used for the Bugle next time there is a need. Hog Farm Talk 22:39, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hog, this most welcome. The biggest need is for a greater variety of reviews. I review books that I read, so most are about 20th century conflicts. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 00:24, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you also for me. We already have lots of reviews lined up for this month - I'd suggest running it next month. It looks like an interesting book! Nick-D (talk) 11:28, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Hog Farm: thanks again for this - the review has been posted at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/News/October 2025/Book reviews. Please feel free to edit it! Nick-D (talk) 01:31, 28 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Nick-D and Hawkeye7: - And User:Hog Farm/Book review/Honey Springs for a future month. A much more niche topic this time. Hog Farm Talk 03:48, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Hog Farm: apologies, I think I missed this one last month - I've just added it. Thank you for the review! Nick-D (talk) 01:53, 24 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This month in military history

I have updated the newsroom templates to allow the "This month in military history" to be automagically generated. As a test, I had it generate October 2025. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 02:58, 8 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Ian Rose/Nick-D a question for the editors. WP:RESUP, a WMF pilot program which purchases resources (e.g., books) for editors who cannot get them on TWL/RX, has been running for a few months now and hasn't had many requests lately. I expect the program could be of use to milhist editors, who may not have heard about it from the places it's so far been mentioned. Think it's something that could be included somewhere in the next issue? RAdimer-WMF (talk) 01:17, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely. As I've been assisted through this program (thank you again!), I can write something up if that would be helpful? Nick-D (talk) 09:59, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Nick-D: Yes! :) RAdimer-WMF (talk) 19:38, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@RAdimer-WMF: I've posted an article on this at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/News/December 2025/Project news. Thank you again. Nick-D (talk) 09:59, 17 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Nick-D: Awesome!! Thank you for describing your experiences there; it's good to read from my perspective too. A question: the opening "The Wikipedia", should that be "The Wikimedia Foundation"? RAdimer-WMF (talk) 18:46, 18 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, fixed Nick-D (talk) 09:59, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

November 2025 Article Improvement Drive

@Nick-D and Ian Rose: Could we also add omething about the Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/November 2025 Article Improvement Drive? The results are at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/November 2025 Article Improvement Drive/Worklists. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 17:42, 17 December 2025 (UTC)  Done Thanks for suggesting this Nick-D (talk) 09:22, 21 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Book review

Hi guys, feel free to use this when it suits. User:Peacemaker67/Military History Book Reviews. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 23:27, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - I'll add it for next month's edition given we already have four reviews this month. Nick-D (talk) 09:23, 21 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I had also prepared a review of the same book. I've tacked it on to the end of the review, but feel free to pull if you disagree. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 18:07, 20 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
