Increase frequency of TFLs

Maybe one per day is not doable, but what about 3 per week, once on Monday, once on Wednesday and once on Friday? Thanks, 🇪🇭🇵🇸🇸🇩 Easternsahara 🇪🇭🇵🇸🇸🇩 19:34, 5 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Easternsahara I had earlier mentioned this, I will go ahead and put up a proposal at WP:VPR. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 06:01, 2 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

With the RfC finding consensus for 3x a week, when should we look to implement the change? The January log is currently mostly unfilled so we could start with the new year, or we could push it back if we don't want to rush into things. RunningTiger123 (talk) 04:50, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@RunningTiger123 I think it can start any moment from now. For example, it could start coming week with an additional one for 17 December. There is also quite a handful of submissions right now. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 11:12, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Doing that would mean updating all of the currently prepped TFL pages to have the correct previous pages — I was trying to avoid making additional work for the coordinators, but if they're fine with that, yes, we could start sooner. RunningTiger123 (talk) 13:43, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, don’t mind me; I totally forgot about the current preps. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 15:18, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I guess the better question is asking what works best for Giants2008 as the scheduler. RunningTiger123 (talk) 18:29, 13 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
My !vote would be to start with the new year. That way we don't have to schedule a list with only a few days' notice. Giants2008 (Talk) 02:20, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds perfectly reasonable. Bgsu98 (Talk) 20:23, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Giants2008: I noticed you started scheduling January TFLs; do we need to update templates to enable Wednesday entries? RunningTiger123 (talk) 20:38, 21 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@RunningTiger123: Yes, we need the templates updated pretty soon. Might be worth posting about this on Main Page talk to find someone, as template work isn't my strength. Giants2008 (Talk) 02:13, 23 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've updated the sandbox of {{TFL archive}} and have transcluded it in Wikipedia:Today's featured list/January 2026. As you'd expect, the TFL for Jan 7th (Wednesday) is empty. Please test it out and if all seems fine I can replace the main template with the current sandbox code. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:40, 23 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The Main Page edit should be pretty easy; I assume we should just need to change #switch:{{CURRENTDAYNAME}}|Monday|Friday to #switch:{{CURRENTDAYNAME}}|Monday|Wednesday|Friday. RunningTiger123 (talk) 17:36, 23 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I think so. There are also a few more pages/templates that need changes, but these should all be done on or after 2nd January since 31st Dec is a Wednesday. Giants, please choose something for January 7, 2026 by then. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:44, 24 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I should be able to get a blurb set up tomorrow. @PresN: and @Hey man im josh:, will you be able to start doing blurbs soon? As I said at the RfC, I think the process will work best if we could each do one blurb per week, more or less. Any preferences for what days you want to handle? Giants2008 (Talk) 01:19, 26 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No preference; I can take Wednesdays if you want. How have you been keeping track of which lists haven't run yet? --PresN 15:23, 27 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Featured lists that have not appeared on the main page one presumes. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 15:35, 27 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Giants2008: Ok, did the first Wednesday at Wikipedia:Today's featured list/January 14, 2026 by picking at random in that category; let me know if anything is wrong or could be better. --PresN 02:40, 28 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
(I'll hold off on notifying the nominator until you give a thumbs-up) --PresN 02:41, 28 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I added a couple of wikilinks that I thought would be helpful. The only suggestion I would make is reducing the size of the Packers logo, which is quite large (at least on my screen). The actual blurb itself looks good. For tracking lists, the page MP linked is useful for a general sense of what is out there. You do have to be careful with that, because a number of the lists are older and have serious deficiencies when compared to modern FL criteria. I will often go onto the talk page of a list I am considering and check whether it's already run, and if it hasn't run I look at when it passed FLC. That's good background info for checking the condition of an article. I also like to keep tabs of WP:FL2025 etc. for a quick look at what is passing FLC. This is a big help in checking for lists that should be in good shape for a Main Page appearance. I like to run some newer lists that seem unique, as that helps maintain topic diversity. That will be more important than ever, as we're likely going to be leaning on the outstanding sports, media and music articles to fill out the extra slots. Giants2008 (Talk) 01:18, 29 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That all sounds about what I expected; I've gone ahead and tagged the talk page and notified the nominator. I'll schedule the next few Wednesdays soon. --PresN 03:36, 29 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
While I intend to pick up activity wise and do more at FLC, I'm not sure I'm a suitable person to write/create blurbs for TFL. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:18, 29 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. I can still do Mondays and Fridays, like before, and Pres can handle the Wednesdays. If I'm entering a busy period, I can always see if Pres is willing to do two a week, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Giants2008 (Talk) 01:21, 30 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, no worries. --PresN 01:30, 30 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Tracking changes for Wednesday FLs

Please add on here if any more changes are done or need to be done. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:03, 2 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at things now that it's Wednesday, nothing looks broken after some light digging, so I think we've caught all of the key things – thanks to everyone who helped find the pages to update! RunningTiger123 (talk) 04:24, 7 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
