Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Somali Civil War (2009–present), but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 13:25, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
- Just did, you're welcome! Zabezt (talk) 18:54, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
- I only didn't include a source due to the lack of one on the cafe-car bombing incident on July 14th. (Which now that I think about it, I should change that.) Zabezt (talk) 19:06, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to the Horn of Africa (defined as including Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and adjoining areas if involved in related disputes), a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Formal warning about edit warring
You broke the 1RR at Somali Civil War. This is a warning that future edit warring will likely lead to a sanction. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 04:21, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- Similar rule violation at Somali Civil War (2009–present). You need to be more careful. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 04:28, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- Firefangledfeathers, thank you for trying to help, I just want you to know that I am still I new user, I don't know all of the rules, and if I break a rule I most likely didn't know it existed, it wasn't intentional. Right now I'm confused, I want to solve this dispute but Ecrusized doesn't want to discuss with me, what should I do? Zabezt (talk) 11:10, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- Read WP:DR, and if you have any questions about one of the options there, let me know. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 12:09, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, a third opinion was already made by @Replayerr on this talk page. So now what? Zabezt (talk) 13:30, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- Either WP:DRN or an WP:RFC. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 13:34, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- I added an RfC Zabezt (talk) 15:17, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- If the RfC doesn't work, can you please persuade Ecrusized to have a discussion with me? Zabezt (talk) 02:42, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- The RfC seems to be in favor of the map currently up, and it doesn't look like anyone else is gonna respond unless they get asked to, so if it's in favor of the current map, what will happen? Zabezt (talk) 16:09, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- RfCs typically run for a while, often 30 days. If it's clear what the consensus is at the end of that period, someone can go ahead and implement it. If consensus is not clear, you can request closure from an uninvolved editor, and it'll be clear from their close what the next step should be. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 16:22, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, but what should we do after October 5th when the page protection expires? An edit war or anything similar will probably happen. Zabezt (talk) 21:01, 4 October 2024 (UTC)

Reading Beans, Duke of Rivia 17:43, 14 November 2024 (UTC)Hey Zabezt! I came across your profile during some of your recent editing in regard to the Syrian conflict. I've been working on a big project over the last few weeks: Attacks on the United States. The aim is to have a list of every time the U.S. (government/military) was attacked, but not when the U.S. was attacking. My hope is to create attacks by the United States once this list is finished.
Well anyway, I wanted to see if you would be interested in helping me put together some of the summaries for the list. I am fairly sure most of the attacks themselves are on the list. But, I'm still working to get the summaries and references put together for each of them. If you are interested or have any questions, feel free to message me back here or on my talk page anytime! If not, I completely understand. Keep up the good work on Wikipedia! The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 01:13, 9 December 2024 (UTC)

Help with SVG
Hi.
I saw that you might have some experience with SVG images. Is there any way you could convert the SSB militia flag into an SVG image? (
) I've been trying for a while (but I'm still navigating Inkscape which is more confusing than I thought haha). Thanks, 𐒈𐒚𐒐𐒆𐒛𐒒 Gebagebo (talk) 03:09, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

Bogga Dagaalka Sokeeye ee Soomaaliya
Zabezt Waan qadarinayaa sida aad uga biyo-diiddan tahay khariidadda, laakiin runtii waxaan u baahan nahay in aan si cad oo geesinimo leh uga hadalno marka ay jirto wax si qalad ah u metelaya xaqiiqada dalkeena. Khariidaddu waxay muujinaysaa in Al-Shabaab gacanta ku hayaan dhul ballaaran, taas oo si toos ah u sheegaysa in ay xukumaan deegaanno badan. Arrintaas maanta ma aha mid sax ah. Dagaalkoodu waa mid ku saleysan weerarro gaadmo ah iyo arbushaad, ma aha maamul iyo xukun dad.
Waxaad kaloo sheegtay in colaaddii sokeeye iyo kacdoonka Al-Shabaab la kala saaro. Taas waa aragti aan kugu raacnsanahay, aan isku dayno in aan sameyno bog cusub oo la yiraahdo "Rise of Insurgency in Somalia". Hadaan sidaa yeelno dagaalkii sokeeye iyo midka argagixisada wey kala saarmayaan.
Haddii aan ka aamusno sawirrada iyo khariidadaha sida khaldan wax u muujinaya, waxaan u muuqanaynaa kuwo oggol khaladkaas, taasina ma aha waxa dalku u baahan yahay maanta. Majid8097 (talk) 09:20, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Brother what map are you talking about? Zabezt (talk) 16:05, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

- Yes the current one Majid8097 (talk) 19:08, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- I mean the map itself is kinda low quality, but the source seems legit. Zabezt (talk) 19:27, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- So you're saying it's incorrect but we have no other options? Majid8097 (talk) 19:32, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Me personally think the map is correct, | the headlines seem to align with the guy who made the original source map. If your worried about the map incorrectly saying Al-Shabaab controls to much territory, just know that the infobox shows that the light gray areas on the map is both control and presence. Zabezt (talk) 19:45, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Then alright walaal, my biggest concern was the map giving alshabab areas they don't control. I believe "control" and "presence" should have two different colours and also the article is very chaotic. It would be better to make a seperate article that covers everything related to the state vs the insurgency and for this one to only remain with conflicts of clans and states like SSC Khaatumo and Somaliland or the Federal Government vs Jubaland. Federal member states map
What's the source for the map you made for States and regions of Somalia? I'm having a hard time finding a source for what Khatumo claims. All the files on commons don't have sources and tend to conflict with each other. There are this UN map and this acled map that show the boundary, but they pre-date Khatumo and only call it Somaliland-Puntland border claims. They also show a different Galmudug-Puntland border from yours. Wowzers122 (talk) 18:05, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- The sources I found (arguably bad) were from File:Somalia States and Regions.png, I just didn't put them on the svg variant. Zabezt (talk) 18:10, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- Of course, they're also unsourced files. The search continues. Wowzers122 (talk) 18:35, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- Nvm The Economist backs up those boundaries for Khatumo. Wowzers122 (talk) 19:35, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
