Henri Meilhac
Mon général, I hope this finds you well. I have been overhauling the article on Henri Meilhac, and would be glad if you could find the time and inclination to look in. All comments or tweaks welcome, but in particular I'd be grateful if you would run an eye over my English translations in the table of Meilhac's works. Best wishes – Tim riley talk 13:57, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, I will gladly do it. A great idea to make sure the librettists get the attention they deserve alongside composers.Cg2p0B0u8m (talk) 16:45, 20 March 2025 (UTC)

At the bottom of the discography section is a statement about compilation albums that is confusing. What do the ellipses mean? What is "Moonstruck"? Can you please clarify it? Thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 01:31, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
- You are right. I will try to rewrite it. I have other interesting things I wanted to add (JC Bach, a couple of C20th operas and Gilbert and Sullivan for radio in 1989) but am struggling to find really good references - I'll do both at the same tiem in due course. Moonstruck is the name of the CD of songs from Edwardian musical shows.Cg2p0B0u8m (talk) 16:30, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
Hello! I'm about to expand Mead's article. I noticed back in 2008 you added a book reference entitled C. P. Mead by N. Jenkinson. I know it's nearly 20 years later, but just wondering if you have that book still, as I'm after some page numbers for the sfn ref template! Cheers, AA (talk) 15:44, 26 August 2025 (UTC)
- Crickey, I had completely forgotten. Thanks for your enquiry. I do still have this book in a cupboard. I am quite busy currently but happy to answer any questions. Cg2p0B0u8m (talk) 21:08, 26 August 2025 (UTC)
- Haha, probably the longest follow-up message after writing something you'll ever get, right? I was looking for the page numbers for the following passages of text:
- "He was born at 10 Ashton Buildings (since pulled down), second eldest of seven children" p5
- "After World War I halted county cricket (Mead was rejected from active service because of varicose veins)" p50
- "Aged 17, he nearly made his debut in first-class cricket for the Players of the South against the Gentleman of the South at Bournemouth, but his inclusion was vetoed by W. G. Grace who objected because of his age" p10
- Also, anything which mentions his school as being Shillingstone Street School. p10 Any other additions warmly received :) Cheers, AA (talk) 21:01, 27 August 2025 (UTC)
- I've added those pages above. The text of the book (minus tables etc) is 150 pages, so there is probably a lot more there to add.Cg2p0B0u8m (talk) 15:28, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- Many thanks. Sounds like a very good resource, as weirdly, there doesn't seem to much in the way of comprehensive coverage in literature of Mead. Which is a shame, as he would be good to have a shot at FA one-day given he is one of the most successful first-class cricketers of all time. AA (talk) 20:27, 28 August 2025 (UTC)

Hello again! I've pretty much finished expanding the article, just the lead needs doing. I was just wondering if the book contains any mention of the following?
- "Between 1922 and 1928, Mead was consistently one of the top batsmen in county cricket, but England's remarkable batting strength – with men like Herbert Sutcliffe, Wally Hammond, Jack Hobbs and Frank Woolley – meant Mead had few opportunities at Test level" – while true, I can't currently find a reference for it and wondered if it is in the book at all?
- Any mention of Mead's funeral at Bournemouth Crematorium and North Cemetery. Find A Grave has his grave listed, but can't be used as a source. No announcement in local or national papers of it either.
Cheers again :) AA (talk) 06:53, 12 September 2025 (UTC)
- Will get back to you but may take a few days... Cg2p0B0u8m (talk) 16:29, 12 September 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry, I can't find them in the Jenkinson book. The first is sort of self evident - I wonder if it came from his Wisden obituary? I am surprised that the second is not confirmed by the local papers in 1958. Cg2p0B0u8m (talk) 16:16, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for looking, much appreciated :) Very self-evident is the first! Doesn't appear in his Wisden or The Cricketer obits. Comes from when the article was created in 2005, so suspect it was the IP editors personal (but obvious) opinion. Very strange his funeral doesn't get any mention in local papers around Hampshire/Bournemouth. Looks like I'll have to cut that out as well! AA (talk) 21:12, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
