Talk:Sokollu Mehmed Pasha

Consensus

Since there are different opinions among historians about Mehmed-paša Sokolović's origin, I think both views should be presented, not just one. For example, in the article about Rustem Pasha Opuković, all three theories about his origin are presented, since only one cannot be taken. Here is an example of how i think the text about his ethnicity should be: "There is great dispute among historians about his origins. According to some historians, he was of Bosniak origin, while others claim that he was of Serbian origin". Sources will be listed. We need to reach a consensus regarding this issue. Amazing Genocide Denial

"He was recruited" - the child was kidnapped and forcibly converted to Islam. 50%+ of the children taken by force to Istanbul died before adulthood. 199.116.241.58 (talk) 01:16, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong Illustration (Again) and Wrong Description of the Illustration

The illustration you give in the article does not depict Sokollu Mehmed Paşa. The very source you yourself give - https://www.meisterdrucke.us/fine-art-prints/Turkish-School/116008/Sultan-Selim-II-(1524-74)-Riding-Between-Kotahia-and-Belgrade-to-Rejoin-the-Imperial-Army.html - CLEARLY states it is Sultan Selim II. This is not the first time I caught you mixing facts and myths and making things up. Stop it! 😡🤦‍♂️

The greatest mistfortune of Wikipedia is made up and mixed data. Even a Mongol sheep herder can write articles about quantum mechanics and you do not give the flying fuck about whether it is true or false. Credibility of Wikipedia thus falls much below 50%. I do not give it even 30% myself. ~2025-35495-87 (talk) 10:01, 23 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing this out. I too am waging a war against blind image spamming. Do not be afraid to make the changes yourself if you wish to. Surtsicna (talk) 10:32, 23 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have checked the source cited in the caption of the image, Tarim 2019, p. 414. It does indeed identify the subject as Sokollu Mehmed Pasha, not Selim. Surtsicna (talk) 10:39, 23 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Surtsicna:Thank you very much for confirming the reference. I just added a quote and a direct Google link to page 414, so that anybody can check directly. Best regards पाटलिपुत्र (Pataliputra) (talk) 11:33, 23 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
