Good Article review progress box
|
1. Well-written
- It placed 14th out of the 16 participating countries in its semi-final, and received 16 points total Comma not needed after "semi-final"
- ...San Marino qualified for the final for its second time... I think "for the second time" makes more sense
- ...and one semi-final reserved to Sammarinese nationals.. Change to "reserved for"
- ...where 129 entries qualified to the semi-finals... Change to "for the semi-finals"
- There were no restrictions on the nationality of the performer nor the language of the song. Should be "or" instead of "nor" here
- ...one finalist was selected from each semi-final and four acts Add a comma after "semi-final"
- ...with a further three artists advancing to the final. The phrasing here is awkward, change to "with three more artists advancing..."
- ...who had previous staged the performance for Spain in the 2023 junior contest. Should be "previously"
- The list of jury members in the Detailed voting results sub-section doesn't need to be there because you already listed the members in the first paragraph of the Voting section.
2. Verifiable
Passes Earwig's. Spot check: 2 and 3, 5, 11, 18, 25, 28, 36, 42, 50, 55, 59, 67, 74. All fine.
- In addition to the regular selection process, SMRTV also launched a collaboration with London-based music tech startup Casperaki, named The San Marino Sessions, to determine an additional finalist. Source?
- The country was not announced among the top 10 entries in the semi-final and therefore failed to qualify to compete in the final. Source?
- ...written by Isra Dante Ramos, Solomando, Roberto la Lueta Ruiz and Sara Jiménez Moral. Source?
- The Instagram post for ref. 43 appears to have been removed. But also, is there a better source that can be used?
- Refs. 7 and 14 are the same link and should be just one citation, same for refs. 12 and 16.
- Refs. 7 and 24 are dead links
3. Broad
The article addressed the main aspects and is focused.
4. Neutral
No concerns regarding neutrality.
5. Stable
The article is stable.
6. Illustrated
The images used are in the public domain, are relevant, and have suitable captions.
@Grk1011: I am done with the initial review, and my suggestions are in the bullet points. -Riley1012 (talk) 15:01, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Riley1012: Thanks for the review! At first I was a bit puzzled with the comments, especially the references as I'm usually a bit more on top of things like repetitive refs and dead links, BUT then I noticed this problematic (annoying) edit after I nominated the article, and everything started to make sense... I mainly reverted that edit while fixing your comments, so please take another look! Thanks again. Grk1011 (talk) 19:01, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Grk1011: No worries, that happens. Everything looks good now! -Riley1012 (talk) 20:50, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

Hello all UVPSMers!
I have decided to put forth a proposal to split the section about Una voce per San Marino 2024 into it’s own article at Una voce per San Marino 2024. I believe that the size of the selection means that the article is getting too long. In addition, the Italian Wikipedia’s article lists all the acts who participated in the audition process, as such information is easy to verify online, so maybe that could make its way onto English Wikipedia as well.
If you have any discussion to offer, please offer them! delta (talk) 13:13, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. This article isn't very long, in fact, it's less than 2,000 words, relatively short. Is there something you think is missing from this article due to it's 'combined' nature? The other acts that didn't make it through the audition are not included in the article because they aren't notable, not because we were short on space. Typically, selection formats are only broken out of the yearly ESC article if the process is known outright: cases where its inclusion as an "ESC-centric" event would be odd. I don't believe that to be the case here. Grk1011 (talk) 13:36, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- Again, the Italian Wikipedia has found it to be notable enough. And anyways, the notability guideline for Wikipedia as far as I know only applies to new articles, and indeed I am not proposing to write new articles on every single auditioner.
- Melodi Grand Prix has its own separate pages for a lot of big editions (for example in 2024), even though it is specifically a national selection for Eurovision, unlike the Sanremo Music Festival or the Festivali i Këngës.

- The Italian wiki has no article about San Marino at Eurovision, just the selection process article, and that isn't even as developed as this article here. I'm not sure the Italian Wiki is a very good example to follow. Grk1011 (talk) 22:11, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. I think there are cases where a separate article for a Eurovision selection event is warranted, however this is only true when the notability and visibility of the event is elevated above its status as a national selection format. This is true for Melodifestivalen and Melodi Grand Prix, where in both cases these contests have gained not just national but sustained international coverage in reliable media sources. The same could also be said for Benidorm Fest and Pesma za Evroviziju, which although are relatively new contests they do have sustained international coverage as well. The same cannot be said for Una voce per San Marino at present, and I believe having a separate article on this topic would be a disservice to both the new article and this article, especially when we consider that this article has gone through the good article process and has been assessed as being a quality article. Splitting this article risks creating two poorer quality articles when at present all aspects of San Marino's participation at Eurovision 2024 are sufficiently covered in good detail that complies with quality, notability and content guidelines. I would also tend to agree that adding information on the 700+ acts which auditioned, as done on the Italian Wikipedia, would diminish the quality of this article and I don't believe they should be included based on notability guidance alone.
