Robert B. Anderson (Texas politician)Robert B. AndersonWP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Negligible views from the South Carolinian compared the Texan, and being part of a president's cabinet is way more notable than only serving in a State House. Your position makes little sense to me. In addition to not desiring to take the majority of users directly to the article about the person they seek, you want to bring everyone searching "Robert B. Anderson" to the catch-all disambiguation page Robert Anderson where there are by my count currently 59 entries, only of which ~4 could be "Robert B. Anderson". Since disambiguation is to help our users, let's give them a list of just the things they seek. For the rare case of someone looking for a Robert B. Anderson not indicated as such on enwiki, that's what a "See also" link to Robert Anderson is for. But let's not inconvenience literally everyone. Mdewman6 (talk) 08:00, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In general, we do not have separate disambiguation pages for each variation in a name. We simply have a single disambiguation page. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:21, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree in general, per WP:DABCOMBINE, for a typical case where a dab lists less than 10 names and 2-3 have the same middle initial. But for a common combination of given name and surname like Robert Anderson, having sub-dab pages to facilitate navigation for our users is definitely warranted. I think if the move does go forward, a hatnote will suffice in redirecting the viewer to the main disambiguation page. There's really no need for another disambiguation page. Jeffrey34555 (talk) 14:28, 5 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
