Hostice (Hungarian: Gesztete) is a village and municipality in the Rimavská Sobota District of the Banská Bystrica Region of southern Slovakia.

In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1332 (1332 Gezeche, 1350 Geste, 1431 Gezthete). It belonged to noble families Ratoldoy and Lórantfy. In the 16th century it had to pay tributes to Turks. From 1938 to 1945 it belonged again to Hungary.

It has a population of 1055 people (31 December 2024).^[5]

In year 2021 was 1050 people by ethnicity 872 as Hungarian, 471 as Romani, 117 as Slovak, 51 as Not found out, 2 as Other, 1 as Czech and 1 as Romanian.
