Shocking Railroad Accident at Tunnel No. 7, near Santa Cruz, May 24[sic] 1880.

Our grand illustrated page represents the actual locality of the dreadful railroad disaster at tunnel No 7 near Santa Cruz, the tunnel inclusive.

Two cars jumped the track on a downward grade, whilst one remained intact upon its ways. The two jumped cars, spilled their passenger as represented; sixteen got killed outright and many others were maimed and wounded, and some fatally.

The locomotive was coupled in the position as indicated. The Cartoon was taken upon the ground by our own artist, Mr. [George Fredrick] Keller
