With respect to the continents selected, supracontinental groupings have been added to support countries that stretch across continental boundaries.

• Egypt appears in the Afro-Eurasia category
• Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Soviet Union and Turkey appear in the Eurasia category.
• Countries in the Caribbean and Central America appear in the Americas category.
• Oceania as a category was accepted rather than grouping Pacific Ocean island countries into an Australia continent category.
• Indonesia is the only country appearing in two continent categories - Oceania and Asia.
