BINI

Adding discussion from Tambayan main page here for courtesy:

Still in disbelief that I am doing this, as a person whose editing portfolio normally covers articles on death, destruction and political violence, but I opened a discussion on renaming Bini to uppercase as per nomenclature of virtually every WP:RS source in this country. See Talk:Bini (group). Borgenland (talk) 15:56, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Also need to clarify if I have to manually post a move notice on article space or wait for a third party or bot to do the job. Borgenland (talk) 15:58, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Juan Karlos

The section detailing his activities from 2018 needs to be updated. Pinging interested editors since I do not have specialisation in dealing with him. Borgenland (talk) 11:20, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Help with improving the article for Day and Night (Alamat song)

Hello! I'm here to ask for help in improving the article for Day and Night by Alamat. I've just created it and started writing it a few days ago. Its C-class rating right now is not the end of the world and it'd probably suffice, but I'm wondering how I/others can improve it.

Finding written sources for it (and generally, most P-Pop songs besides the SB19 ones and BINI ones post-Pantropiko) is really challenging! For example, I know for a fact that Alamat performed this song at The Juans' concert in Cebu, as well as their second concert Ragasa, but I can only find YouTube and social media sources for that. The mainstream media needs to improve its coverage on the P-Pop idol industry. 😭 Anyway, thanks in advance! Bloomagiliw (talk) 21:37, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, a C-class rating is a great starting point for any article. Anyway, I've added a credits and personnel to your article to credit the people who worked behind the scenes on the song. Hope that helps! D-Flo27 (talk) 03:32, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Bloomagiliw (talk) 13:32, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Interested in helping this article since I got LSS on this song just recently. Looks like you already made pretty decent progress, not bad! I'll see where I can help. AstrooKai (Talk) 12:43, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Saw your edits too. Bloomagiliw (talk) 13:32, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Visayan pop article

Hi, just letting y'all know I've created an article about Vispop (Visayan pop). It still needs an importance assessment as well as a content rating: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visayan_pop Bloomagiliw (talk) 13:34, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

IFPI: Official Philippines Chart

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) recently launched the Official Southeast Asia Charts, with a Philippine edition Official Philippines Chart. Should we start recognizing these charts? Currently, here in the Philippines, only Billboard (under Billboard Philippines) charts are recognized (see WP:GOODCHARTS). Although, I have seen other IFPI national charts listed under the WP:GOODCHARTS.

Official Philippines Chart can be accessed via officialseacharts.com. AstrooKai (Talk) 13:30, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, the relaunched Philippines Hot 100 and the new Top Philippine Songs charts by Billboard Philippines are still not listed in WP:GOODCHARTS. Only the now-defunct Philippines Songs by Billboard. AstrooKai (Talk) 13:36, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. I think we should, but maybe we can get some more opinions cause I don't know much about the IFPI. As for the PH Hot 100, yes, we should try to get it recognized as soon as possible, although I don't know how. D-Flo27 (talk) 15:35, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@D-Flo27 We can Request a comment for this. ROY is WAR Talk! 05:39, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's funny how before, the Philippines barely had any existing record charts; now we're having this problem (a good one).
Kidding aside, as far as I know, there should only be one authoritative chart that can represent the Philippine market as a whole. If so, at the moment, I am leaning towards Billboard Philippines Hot 100 as the country's main chart for the only reason that it came first. However, I think we should consult with others as well, maybe in the Record Charts WikiProject. – Relayed (t • c) 14:50, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So, this concern has already been brought up to the Record Charts WikiProject (thanks RoyisWariii). However, I don't think they're active these days. Do we have a plan B on where else to bring this up? D-Flo27 (talk) 04:46, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@D-Flo27, Official Philippines Chart are in WP:GOODCHARTS now. Also, I just want to let you know that I convert the redirect of Official Philippines Chart into article. ROY is WAR Talk! 09:15, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nice. Thanks again. D-Flo27 (talk) 15:45, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Asking for help again on Isapuso (Alamat) article

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isapuso

Someone gave it a C-class rating (to be honest, I really think it should be at least B-class? It has a good deal of properly sourced information and is better-written than some articles with B-class ratings here, like the 4th Impact one, which hasn't been updated since 2023 and has unsourced info like the members' supposed vocal types. Comparing it to other C-class album articles too, I really think it's more substantial). But I understand if you guys agree it should be C-class for now. I'm hoping to find out ways to improve it and am inviting other editors here to help improve it too.

I also haven't rated its importance on this task force's importance scale, because I'm not a member of it. Bloomagiliw (talk) 23:35, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Will check on it and see if I can help. AstrooKai (Talk) 10:37, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just finished editing the article. I have saw other issues within the article, but that's all I can for now. I'll leave the others to you or other editors. AstrooKai (Talk) 11:53, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much. Is it okay to ask for a quick summary of other issues so I can try to work on them? Bloomagiliw (talk) 11:57, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, here's a list. I also made two edits in the article while writing this:
  • Background and production may need some copyedit to convert some sentence or phrases into a concise form.
  • What do the numbers within the parentheses in Personnel mean? That entire section may require complete rewriting to make it more understandable.
  • The bundled citation (footnote "e") in Personnel needs to be reformat, see Help:Citation merging for help on how to properly do this.
  • Remove the nominations of the album's tracks in Accolades, only leave the Album of the Year nomination. This is because these nominations only pertain to the individual tracks, not the album itself. The "Accolades" section should only list what awards the album itself receives. (I learned this the hard way in Biniverse (EP))
  • Most of the citations that uses Ghost Archive has their title links already linking to the archived link, you may want to mark those as "live" if they're not dead yet.
I may have overlooked some other issues, so I'll leave this to other interested editors. AstrooKai (Talk) 12:23, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Noted. For the numbers in the Personnel section, they just refer to the track numbers that the credits belong to. I was going to write it like "(Dayang, Day and Night)", but it's what I've seen on GA-class album articles.

I see, then leave it as is. AstrooKai (Talk) 12:47, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm also confused by the "not sure if it applies to local dialects" because Tausug, Ilocano, etc. are all languages, like Tagalog and Cebuano...? I can just de-link all of the other languages as well. Just reply when you feel like it; I really do appreciate the help you've already provided. Bloomagiliw (talk) 12:44, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's why I'm not sure, because these are dialects, and I have always known that languages and dialects are different from each other. So, in MOS:OVERLINK, I'm not sure if local dialects are included in "Languages". AstrooKai (Talk) 12:53, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, okay, I see the problem now. The idea that these Philippine languages are dialects is total misinformation. Ilocano and such are listed as Philippine languages throughout all of Wikipedia for a good reason.
I hope this video can elucidate why the Philippine languages can't be called dialects from a linguistic point of view: https://youtube.com/5CeeA6A4BCE?t=198
A dialect is a form of a single language that is mutually intelligible (understandable) with other dialects. Ilocano, for instance, is not at all mutually intelligible with Tagalog, having even more differences than, say, established languages like Spanish and Portuguese (which have over 90% lexical similarities). Thus, by definition, Ilocano is a language, and not a dialect.
The KWF (Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino) also acknowledges them as languages: https://pcij.org/2017/08/25/ang-mga-wika-ng-pilipinas/
I think I will de-link all of them. Bloomagiliw (talk) 13:08, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
