Category:Aviation accidents and incidents by aircraft manufacturer

Nominator's rationale: It only covers 3 irrelevant manufacturers. It should either be expanded (Greatly) or deleted. . Lovetheblahaj (talk) 23:56, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Delete per nominator. Lost in Quebec (talk) 12:58, 20 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:People from the Almoravid Empire

Nominator's rationale: The merge target is much older and was empted out of process by the category creator. This category should be merged and then older category renamed. SMasonGarrison 22:36, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Films about narcissists

Nominator's rationale: "Films about X" category, newly created for just one film without a clear indication that many others could be added to it. The problem is that there isn't a clear-cut definition of when somebody has objectively crossed the line from self-confidence into narcissism, so there isn't a clear and objective metric as to whether any given film is "about" a narcissist or not -- so inclusion here would come down to personal opinions rather than defining or objective analysis. Bearcat (talk) 22:18, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Men casting directors

Nominator's rationale: Unnecessary gendered category. As usual, categories for women in an occupation do not always have to be balanced off with a matching category for men -- there are some cases (e.g. actors, sportspeople) where categories for men and women should both exist as gender has a direct relationship to the topic, but there are other cases where a category for women should exist while a category for men should not, because women represent a minority in a male-dominated occupation. In 2025, certainly there are a lot of women working as casting directors -- but historically, casting directors were almost exclusively men until women working became a social norm. So a category for male casting directors is not needed, because men represent the majority of our articles about casting directors, and are not a topic where anybody needs special help finding the men in anything like the same way women are. Category:9th-century BC people by religion

Nominator's rationale: Redundant category layer. The lone subcategory is already in Category:9th-century BC people by nationality and Category:9th-century BCE Judaism so no merging is necessary. –Aidan721 (talk) 20:24, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Association football players by country and populated place

Nominator's rationale: All contain 1-3 subcategories each. Redundant category layers. WP:NARROW. –Aidan721 (talk) 16:35, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Military personnel from Alexandria

Nominator's rationale: Non-defining intersection between occupation and place of birth. WP:OCLOCATION. –Aidan721 (talk) 14:31, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:People from Çaycuma

Nominator's rationale: Category with just two entries. Lost in Quebec (talk) 13:30, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Secondary Education in Zhuhai

Nominator's rationale: The category should perhaps have been named Secondary schools in Zhuhai. However, Category:Secondary schools in China is not split directly by city. All three member articles are already within Junior secondary schools in China or Senior secondary schools in China as appropriate. – Fayenatic London 12:46, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Uruguayan immigrants to Venezuela

Nominator's rationale: Mistake, recently created category. NoonIcarus (talk) 09:15, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:People from Çine

Nominator's rationale: Category with just one entry. Also propose merging-

Category:Canadian actors by province or territory and populated place

Category:German actors by state and populated place

Nominator's rationale: Redundant category layer. Merge per WP:NARROW and previous discussion. –Aidan721 (talk) 04:56, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Welsh actresses by populated place

Nominator's rationale: All contain 2-3 subcategories each. Not useful for navigation. Merge per WP:NARROW. Don't need to merge to a second target since the subcategories are already in the "by county" tree. –Aidan721 (talk) 04:39, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Scottish comedy actors

Nominator's rationale: per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2024_January_4#Comedy_actors SMasonGarrison 04:21, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Scottish actors by council area and populated place

English actors by county and populated place

Nominator's rationale: All contain 1-3 subcategories each. Not useful for navigation. Merge per WP:NARROW and recent precedents. –Aidan721 (talk) 04:06, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Actors by nationality and populated place

Nominator's rationale: All contain 1-3 "Actors from FOO" subcategories. Not useful for navigation. Merge per WP:NARROW and recent precedents. –Aidan721 (talk) 03:44, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Former forts

Nominator's rationale: This is an underpopulated category that, if populated (after a lot of work), would be huge and unwieldy, even if the (in fact ambiguous) qualifier "completely demolished" is kept. I suggest populating "Military installations closed in [year or appropriate time frame]" as sufficient, or an alternative, as the case may be. btw I think the subcategory "Former star forts" is distinctive enough for keeping, though each should be cross-categorized in "Military installations closed in [year or appropriate time frame]". Category:20th-century American people by ethnicity

Nominator's rationale: Isolated category with four subcategories. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 03:23, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Plant characters

Merge Category:Plant characters into Category:Anthropomorphic plants
Reason: These categories both seem to cover the exact same concept of anthropomorphized plant characters as far as I can see. I think most of us can agree that one of them is redundant to the other. AHI-3000 (talk) 18:53, 10 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Kozhikode

Nominator's rationale: Likely made-up arbitrary divisions; contents are mostly suburbs, but there are a few universities and colleges interspersed. They are miscapitalized, and I've nominated the associated articles Kozhikode East, Kozhikode North, and Kozhikode South for deletion. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 03:12, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Historians by nationality and populated place

Nominator's rationale: Upmerge for now. There's only one country in here SMasonGarrison 02:58, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Merge I'd suggest merging the subcategory as well, as it contains only two subcategories. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 03:39, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Publishers from Brooklyn

Nominator's rationale: We really don't need to diffuse publishers by populated place. We don't even diffuse by state. SMasonGarrison 02:45, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. We should diffuse publishers by city because many citation formats actually require the location of a publisher as a reference citation practice. It makes sense to categorize them by location.4meter4 (talk) 02:48, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:F0 and F1 tornadoes

Nominator's rationale: Per CFD nominations for the sibling categories. Possibly also split to levels 0 and 1. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 02:09, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That name is too long, in my opinion; six different entries? Wouldn't it be more feasible to just call it F0 and F1-equivalent tornadoes to avoid having six different list entries as a category name? Departure– (talk) 18:13, 29 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
