- Invitation to Organize Feminism and Folklore 2026
Dear Wiki Community,
We are pleased to invite Wikimedia communities, affiliates, and independent contributors to organize the Feminism and Folklore 2026 writing competition on your local Wikipedia.
The international campaign will run from 1 February to 31 March 2026 and aims to improve coverage of feminism, women’s histories, gender-related topics, and folk culture across Wikipedia projects.
- About the Campaign
Feminism and Folklore is a global writing initiative that complements the Wiki Loves Folklore photography competition. While Wiki Loves Folklore focuses on visual documentation, this writing campaign addresses the gender gap on Wikipedia by improving encyclopedic content related to folk culture and marginalized voices.
- What Can Participants Write About?
Communities can contribute by creating, expanding, or translating articles related to:
- Folk festivals, rituals, and celebrations
- Folk dances, music, and traditional performances
- Women and queer figures in folklore
- Women in mythology and oral traditions
- Women warriors, witches, and witch-hunting narratives
- Fairy tales, folk stories, and legends
- Folk games, sports, and cultural practices
Participants may work from curated article lists or generate new article suggestions using campaign tools.
- How to Sign Up as an Organizer
Organizers are requested to complete the following steps to register their community:
- Create a local project page on your wiki (see sample)
- Set up the campaign using the CampWiz tool
- Prepare a local article list and clearly mention:
- Campaign timeline
- Local and international prizes
- Request a site notice from local administrators (see sample)
- Add your local project page and CampWiz link to the Meta project page
- Campaign Tools
The Wiki Loves Folklore Tech Team has introduced tools to support organizers and participants:
- Article List Generator by Topic – Helps identify articles available on English Wikipedia but missing in your local language Wikipedia. The tool allows customized filters and provides downloadable article lists in CSV and wikitable formats.
- CampWiz – Enables communities to manage writing campaigns effectively, including jury-based evaluation. This will be the third year CampWiz is officially used for Feminism and Folklore.
Both tools are now available for use in the campaign. Click here to access the tools
- Learn More & Get Support
For detailed information about rules, timelines, and prizes, please visit the Feminism and Folklore 2026 project page.
If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out via:

Question from Allan Pacho Garcia on The Dawn (band) (07:07, 6 February 2026)
Hello to my mentor. Could you help? My (birth) name is Allan Pacho Garcia. I'm trying to add to the Philippine band The Dawn lists of songs. How does one go about it? THANKS in advance! --Allan Pacho Garcia (talk) 07:07, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
- Allan Pacho Garcia, so you want to edit The Dawn (band)#Discography? What specifically do you want to add, and where? — Qwerfjkltalk 14:48, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, I want to edit and update the Philippine band The Dawn's DISCOGRAPHY. All of their albums, starting with the one they released in 1987, "The Dawn." Allan Pacho Garcia (talk) 05:27, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
- The songs are:
- 1. Enveloped Ideas
- 2. Dreams
- 3. Give Me the Night
- 4. The Living Seed
- 5. Sing Me (A New Song)
- 6. Mad Game
- 7. Behind Shadows
- 8. Susi Allan Pacho Garcia (talk) 05:30, 11 February 2026 (UTC)

How to stop the bot spamming me?
Recently the bot seems to report some inconsequential errors to me rather than fix them. Can you stop the bot from doing this? (See my talk page). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:28, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
- Piotrus, there's instructions on the bot's user page to opt out. You can't opt out of specific errors, but I can add that if you want. — Qwerfjkltalk 13:40, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks. I think I will just opt out for now; I am sure your bot is doing a lot of useful things, but what it reports to me is stuff I consider unimportant (as in - not worth fixing, at least, not by human). YMVV of course. Cheers, Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 00:32, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
- I agree. The spamming of trivial errors means that I now ignore them. I suggest that you can retain valid attention by raising the bar of what is considered an error. I know there are editors who think that the formatting of dates is important. Good luck to them. Could they sign up to receive the trivial date formatting errors? Well done ... but less messaging please. Victuallers (talk) 08:59, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
- Since I am still subscribed to this, I'll add that what made me really surprised is why is the bot not fixing what seems like a rather simple error. Again, this trivial date formatting issue that the bot was spamming me is something that the bot should be fixing, not wasting human time with. (Anyway, I've now opted out of the errors of this type, which, once again, I don't consider worth my time to fix with, no offence meant). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 13:33, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
- Piotrus, Victuallers, it was @GoingBatty who asked me to add the error categories, I don't particularly have an opinion on the matter.
Again, this trivial date formatting issue that the bot was spamming me is something that the bot should be fixing
. Some of the errors are errors because they're ambiguous, e.g. Special:Diff/1333717338 (YYYY-MM without DD) could be converted to Month YYYY automatically, but it's also possible the editor missed off the day when typing the date. — Qwerfjkltalk 10:39, 20 February 2026 (UTC)- I see. However I agree, it is possible that they missed the accurate date by mistake, or I think more likely that is was recorded as "May" or "June". (More likely I've made a spelling or grammar error, but it would be counter productive to create a message for that too). I care enough to consider these things when I type them, but not to reconsider them every time I get a message. I suggest that you flag them and put them in a pile somewhere so that the date format enthusiasts can have a feast and leave messages to editors for more readable stuff. Good work, thank you. Victuallers (talk) 10:57, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
- I agree all errors are possible. In my case, I am pretty sure this is related to my occasional magazine citations, where I specify month and year (for monthly magazines, where no day date is available). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:12, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Piotrus: Hi there! Yes, I asked Qwerfjkl to add more error categories to their bot, in the hopes that people will fix their own errors. You're correct that some of the notifications the bot sent you are for date formatting that a bot could easily fix, but we shouldn't count on bots to fix our mistakes. (Unfortunately, User:Citation bot is currently blocked.)
- Also, even if a bot fixed the date format in your edits such as this one and this one, the citations would still need human intervention to change from
{{cite book}}to{{cite magazine}}, enter the magazine article title in|title=, move the magazine name to|magazine=or|work=, and remove the date from the|title=field. - Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 15:20, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty Fair point. Any script or such that adds cite magazine and others (cite encyclopedia, etc.) to Visual Editor interface? I'd use them if they were there, but usually I just forget about them because they are not in the menu :( Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:10, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Piotrus: I don't know of a script that could look at a magazine in Google Books and NOT use
{{cite book}}. GoingBatty (talk) 04:39, 21 February 2026 (UTC)- @GoingBatty Most magazines I use are not in google books (recently I link to IA a lot). I think the default VE script gives me cite web usually, although I also see cite book used; both are of course not ideal, sigh. Speedy deletion nomination of APRT (disambiguation)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on APRT (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is:
- a disambiguation page with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" which lists only one extant Wikipedia page (i.e., there is a primary topic);
- a disambiguation page that lists zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
- a redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" whose target is neither a disambiguation page nor page that has a disambiguation-like function.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 16:36, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
Question from YellowPerch5 (17:50, 8 February 2026)
Hello,
Is it appropriate to add a paragraph about how JMU Football made it to the college football playoffs for the first time in the James Madison University page under "Athletics?" I would link to the "2025 James Madison Dukes football team" page and the "College Football Playoff" page citing the ESPN Bracket announcement.
Thanks --YellowPerch5 (talk) 17:50, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
- YellowPerch5, I'd suggest making a post at Talk:James Madison University, and if no one responds within a week, go ahead and make the edit. Note that you should copy the reference from 2025 James Madison Dukes football team, don't just link to it. — Qwerfjkltalk 21:49, 8 February 2026 (UTC)

I published an objective, short article with a few informations about the artist Byzantium Matthi(me):The year i got my first song, the style, origins and the message of the song.It was rejected. In this "autobiography" i didn t even mention my real life events. It was strictly an informative(artistic) page for the listeners. I didn t even fathom to promote my music trough wikipedia, just to introduce some basic details about my project to my low viewership. The article didn’t highlight the project’s positive qualities; I only mentioned general statements. I am interested about solving this toghether. Thank you! --Byzantiummatthi (talk) 18:22, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

Aldaaer Ismail (talk) 00:31, 18 February 2026 (UTC)

Arrest of Minors in Ghdeir Al-Bustan, Quneitra Province, Syria – 16 February 2026 Quneitra, Syria – 16 February 2026
In the early hours of 16 February 2026, a force consisting of six Israeli military off-road vehicles entered the village of Ghdeir Al-Bustan in Quneitra province, southern Syria, and detained two teenage residents of the village. According to the mother of the adolescents, Hayam Al-Arian, the forces raided their home at approximately 2:00 a.m. The soldiers were reportedly armed and accompanied by police dogs. During the raid, the dogs allegedly attacked the two teenagers and their mother, causing injuries to their faces and hands. The two minors were subsequently taken to areas under Israeli military control. As of the time of writing, their whereabouts and legal status remain unknown, raising serious concerns among their family and the local community. Local sources report that personnel from the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) visited the family and recorded their testimonies; however, no further action has been taken to date, contributing to growing frustration among residents. This incident occurs amid ongoing tensions in Quneitra province, where Israeli forces have reportedly occupied several strategic locations following the collapse of the former regime and established military positions in the area. Local residents are calling on the new government to intervene to halt repeated incursions and to ensure security and stability in the region. Question from Sanahalon (22:00, 19 February 2026)
Hallo Qwerfjkl, I have question about how can I edit article which I cannot edit because I'm not a professional user of Wikipedia. I want to add to English Wikipedia some text, first, it's about veganuary it's has 30 million people who did vegan diet for a month this year, second it's two study, how I did see well good, it is https://sentienceinstitute.org/animal-farming-attitudes-survey-2017, https://www.fooddive.com/news/survey-most-consumers-like-meat-slaughterhouses-not-so-much/515301/ and this https://sentienceinstitute.org/aft-survey-2020.
Can I ask someone who is a professional editer on Wikipedia to add this information, or what can I do to get at least polylogue that will continue this information to get into English version of article about veganism. At least the first study seems good and long(2017-2021 - 4 year and 1,100 participants from different backgrounds) I will hear any criticism if you see it in article's. Wait for your answer. --Sanahalon (talk) 22:00, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
- Sanahalon, most editors on Wikipedia are not "professionals"; there are very few people who are actually paid to edit Wikipedia. The article in question, Veganism, requires you to have 10 edits and an account 4 or more days old.
With respect to your changes, you can make an edit request on the talk page - there should be a button if you attempt to edit the article. — Qwerfjkltalk 10:44, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

- Svetluska123, you appear to have used AI, partially at least, to make that edit. Could you please tell me what exactly did you use an AI for? — Qwerfjkltalk 19:52, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
- To search for the source in question. I did NOT use it for writing the text. Svetluska123 (talk) 21:20, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
- Svetluska123, the source https://www.rep.routledge.com/articles/thematic/subject-postmodern-critique-of/v-1/sections/thinkers-and-themes does not seem to be freely available - do you have access to it to verify what it says? — Qwerfjkltalk 10:48, 21 February 2026 (UTC)

possible error related to dates in a minor revision. I have not used any dates, but added some references from DOIs in PUBMED or publishers. Maybe this carries date information? - Avengent, you added

Comment/question: It seems like the links work to me. There may have been a mistake because while I was making edits I accidently refreshed the page, so somethings have have been saved, and others not, but right away I edited everything correctly.

- MichelleYH, it was fixed subsequently by another editor. — Qwerfjkltalk 17:37, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
