Question from DoubleOhh7 (04:20, 22 February 2025)
wanted to know how to edit and update a page with a corresponding death date that will link correctly --DoubleOhh7 (talk) 04:20, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
- DoubleOhh7, what page in particular, and what do you mean by
that will link correctly
? In general, it's as simple as replacing the old date with the new one, though I can give more specific help if you tell me which page you want to update the date for. — Qwerfjkltalk 11:55, 22 February 2025 (UTC)- I was looking to make another clean edit of course to this page
- Chō Kōran
- by updated the death date information as I has made one of my first edits by adding it to the main section of the following page
- 1879
- it went from date unknown to the date listed.
- I noticed that the top right square on the Chō Kōran page is not updated and wanted to try the edit but noticed it was a bit more than I know how to do. DoubleOhh7 (talk) 14:35, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
- DoubleOhh7, it looks updated to me. To edit using the Visual Editor, just open the editing screen, click on the infobox (the top right square, as you called it), and click on edit. Then change the death date from
to whatever you want to change it to (though as I said, it already appears correct to me). — Qwerfjkltalk 14:44, 22 February 2025 (UTC){{death year and age|1879|1804}}

That was via Huggle. Did Qwerfjkl (bot) create Draft:A Title Editing:JPEG or is there (yet another) issue with Huggle? If you know, I would like to report the problem. Probably will need to ask an admin. Sorry about that mis-post. Cheers Adakiko (talk) 21:32, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

Article "U.S. Economy and Economic Regions"

- @Wikiloves Sherzodbek 2008 03.27, it seems to duplicate the article Economy of the United States. Is there a reason why you haven't edited that article instead? — Qwerfjkltalk 14:16, 2 March 2025 (UTC)

Watchlist emails
I noticed I wasn't getting any bot notices, checked the status page and, well, wasn't entirely sure what I was looking at! I do note on the Graphana page there are two pods active, but the "actual usage" looks to be a lot of zeros. I'll have to remember once things are up and running to take a look at the "regular" function so I can hopefully be a bit more informed if I suspect the bot has gone down in the future. Primefac (talk) 17:45, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- Primefac, the job is called "test" for whatever reason. It looks like it's been running for almost 5 days, which doesn't seem unusual (it's just a continuous job - it should restart whenever it errors). Looking at the logs, however, and the job hasn't done anything since February 26th (though the webservice is running fine). I have manually restarted it, which should hopefully fix it (maybe one of these days I'll come up with a more permanent solution). It seems to have worked. — Qwerfjkltalk 17:58, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- The other pod, "watchlistemail", is the webservice (I think). — Qwerfjkltalk 18:07, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- Makes sense. And now I see what it looks like when emails do get sent. Excellent. Primefac (talk) 18:28, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Primefac, oops, looks like what I said earlier was incorrect. This is not a continuous task - instead it runs every minute. The job shouldn't run for longer than a minute, so I guess 5 days was a sign something was wrong. Qwerfjkltalk 21:03, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- I've recreated the job with a timeout (of 1 day) so this shouldn't cause issues in the future. The new job's name is "checkwatchlist". Qwerfjkltalk 21:15, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

Bot CS1 errors
I’ve been receiving CS1 error notifications for an edit I made to Avonside Engine Company regarding a missing title - it’s something I’m aware of, but I didn’t introduce… I simply converted the citation from a bare cite into a cite journal. Is it possible to disable CS1 error notifications if the editor has already tagged the template like I have by using Template:Full citation needed or Template:Title needed, as then it’s obviously not a mistake but rather a maintenance issue? Danners430 (talk) 18:17, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Danners430, you can opt out of all such notifications by adding
{{bots|optout=cs1-errors}}
at the top of your talk page. I could probably prevent the bot from notifying in such cases, but it wouldn't be straightforward, and I'm busy with life right now. — Qwerfjkltalk 22:11, 5 March 2025 (UTC)- It’s all good - we all have real lives… I do prefer to have the bot deliver most such messages, as they are useful - it’s just this one particular one :-) Danners430 (talk) 22:57, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
- Danners430, how the bot currently works is it detects whether titles are missing based on category changes (using the CS1 error categories). If I wanted to check if it was tagged with a specific template, I would have to rework how the bot works, because you could, for instance, tag one referenced with {{Title missing}} but then leave it out on another, which would require me to examine the diff and parse it for references. — Qwerfjkltalk 18:14, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
- Ah, makes sense. Ah well, if it’s not easily possible then there’s probably no need for it - I thought I’d raise it either way, as maybe it could’ve been easy :) Danners430 (talk) 19:46, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
