Austin started his computer career during high school summers working on IBM 026 electro-mechanical keypunch machines. He has worked in a large bank operations center, a medium sized communications company, a couple of small startups and a large computer company in the operating systems group. His Unix roots led him to Linux and the open source community. Austin has a degree in Geography from Arizona State University. He swears never to work on a computer so large he cannot throw it through a window.
