COI tag (March 2025)
The page has been largely written by its subject, who continues to edit it despite multiple requests to address her COI. Please see WP:AUTOBIO. Qflib (talk) 14:56, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- What is a COI tag? I am more than happy to address it. This page was NOT written by me. I have only attempted to update and be accurate with the statements made in the biography. I have tried to be objective and neutral in updating this biography. I am not familiar with the terms used for editing and that may be the problem. For that I apologize. However, accuracy in one's biography is paramount and I believe the subject (with documentation and corroboration, for which I have provided) is the best source. Thank you. Yvonne S. Thornton (talk) 15:33, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Yvonne S. Thornton. COI means Conflict of Interest. You have a Conflict of Interest with this article as it is about yourself.
- All we need you to do is write something on this page here (which is your User Page), something like "I am Yvonne Thornton and have an autobiographic conflict of interest with the article Yvonne Thornton. I am declaring this conflict in-line with Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy." Then press the Publish page button to publish that conflict of interest to your user page. qcne (talk) 15:51, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- This was first raised 14 years ago on your personal Talk page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Yvonne_S._Thornton), and you engaged substantially with editors at that time. Again, please carefully read Wikipedia:Autobiography to read the Wikipedia policy here. Please don't edit this article any more, even to make changes that you are sure are correct. No one should be writing their autobiography on Wikipedia. If you need changes to be made because something should be included or corrected, ask for them to be made here on the article Talk page and we will help. Qflib (talk) 16:02, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the explanation and clarification. I didn't know the process. It is greatly appreciated. Have a good day! Yvonne S. Thornton (talk) 16:50, 10 March 2025 (UTC)

- What I think should be changed (include citations): The section Early musical years to:
Early years
Prior to becoming a physician, at age 7, Thornton began playing alto saxophone and at age 9, she and her sisters formed a family jazz band called "The Thornettes". (1956 photo) . As an adolescent, the jazz combo developed into an all-girl Rhythm-and-Blues (R&B) family band known as "The Thornton Sisters". Her mother (Itasker) was the wardrobe mistress who also played upright and then electric bass. Her older sister, Donna, played tenor saxophone; Jeanette played electric guitar; Linda played drums[1] and was lead vocalist while her youngest sister, Rita, played piano and keyboards. Her father, Donald, was the road manager.[2]
At age 11, The Thornton Sisters performed on the then-popular Ted Mack and the Original Amateur Hour. Their performance appears in the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division of the Library of Congress[3]
Two years later, the sextet went on to win an unprecedented six consecutive weeks on Amateur Night at Harlem's World Famous Apollo Theatre.[4] The coveted prize was a paid week with professional artists, such as Shep and the Limelites, Fats Domino, and Ernie K-Doe. A year later, in 1962, The Thornton Sisters were featured at The Brooklyn Fox with Murray the "K" and his Swingin' Soiree performing with Fabian, Shirelles, Chuck Jackson and The Four Seasons.[5] During that year, The Thornton Sisters signed with Roulette Records and then Atlantic Records. However, the mandated personal appearance tours conflicted with their academic pursuits and the contracts were canceled. In 1965, The Thornton Sisters recorded "Watch Your Step" (written by Jeanette Thornton) on the BobSan label and "Big City Boy".

After the Brooklyn Fox, for the next thirteen years (1963–1976), The Thornton Sisters were on the "college circuit" performing on weekends at many fraternities and eating clubs of many colleges and universities, such as Amherst, Colgate and Bucknell. Princeton University and other Ivy League campuses including Cornell, Dartmouth and the University of Pennsylvania were their main colleges for performance in order to defray the cost of their tuition for medical and dental schools. Donna (1944–1993) became a court stenographer; Jeanette (1945–2020) earned two doctorates, EdD and MD; Linda is a Board-certified dentist, earning her DDS from New York University and becoming the first Black female Board-certified prosthodontic oral surgeon in the United States, Rita earned a law degree (JD) and a PhD in Environmental Science.
- Why it should be changed:
I am making this edit request on behalf of User:Yvonne S. Thornton. They created a sandbox which was moved to draftspace here: Draft:Yvonne Thornton and have confirmed on their talk page that they were wanting to change the content in this article to the content they created in their draft. Making the edit request on behalf of the user as I understand they are struggling using Wikipedia.

- Thank you very much for doing this, but it needs to be on your personal Talk page, not the article's Talk page. This article is about you, but it's not "your article" and its talk page isn't "your Talk page." Qflib (talk) 18:22, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
- OK @Yvonne S. Thornton, you've added the declaration to your userpage. Now what changes were you looking to be made to this page? Is this something here you think is inaccurate? --FeldBum (talk) 04:05, 12 March 2025 (UTC)
