Sean "Puffy" Combs
I note the recent revert of Combs' alias "Puffy" in the lead. This was verifiably his stage name in the early days of Bad Boy.[1][2] Sean "Puffy" Combs was the executive producer on Bad Boy's early releases, Project: Funk Da World[3] and Ready to Die[4] being among the most famous. Heck, even two early biographies [5][6] were written about Sean "Puffy" Combs. There is no reason not to include "Puffy" in the lead. 162 etc. (talk) 17:41, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Cena332: You were the one who reverted this. Do you have a rebuttal to add? 162 etc. (talk) 17:19, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
Yes check past edits on previous conversation when we reached a consensus. --Cena332 (talk) 14:41, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
- If you're referring to Talk:Sean Combs/Archive 2#Grammar Correction, I hardly see a "consensus" there. That whole thread barely addresses "Puffy", and the participants make no reference to any actual Wikipedia policies and guidelines.
- I've presented several citations from reliable sources that indicate that Combs used "Puffy" as a stage name. What reason do you have for not including verified facts in the article? 162 etc. (talk) 17:49, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
- we all reached a consensus in back in May to keep the lead the way it is. HumansRightsIsCool (talk) 02:51, 14 February 2025 (UTC)

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Sophisticatedevening (talk) 14:46, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
Years active
While I don't think "former" should be included in the opening sentence of his Wikipedia page (unless he's found guilt and sentenced to prison), I do think that the "Years active" part of his infobox should be 1990-2024 instead of 1990-present which is what is currently being used. I also think there is precedent for this, as the "Years active" section on the infobox for R. Kelly ends in 2019, when he was dropped from his record label and arrested. CY223 (talk) 05:23, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- We should do this, and then we could add a new set of dates if he resumes his musical career when he gets out of prison. Diannaa (talk) 11:56, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- Seems reasonable. Done. 162 etc. (talk) 14:50, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

Request: mention his actual arrest date of Monday, September 16, 2024. It’s nowhere in the article. JamesFames! (talk) 23:48, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

Sean Combs → Diddy – Per WP:COMMONNAME, Diddy is used more often than Sean Combs. While Diddy used to be a disambiguation page, it now redirects here, so I don't see any problem with moving the page to Diddy. 2600:4041:57E9:8E00:A9D6:9234:56D8:4CD4 (talk) 12:36, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose: This was recently discussed, in Talk:Sean Combs/Archive 2#Requested move 16 August 2024, where the consensus was to not move the page. My opinion: Because he is known by so many names, there's no reason to move the page. --Diannaa (talk) 13:18, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose per Diannaa. I don't see that anything has changed since the last nomination. Preferable to use his given name. — Amakuru (talk) 14:33, 28 February 2025 (UTC)

- Oppose. The man has used so many different names, and variants and combinations of said names, that we could debate this endlessly. His proper name "Sean Combs" follows the default style at WP:NCP and this name appears frequently in reliable sources over a long period of time. --MYCETEAE 🍄🟫—talk 04:11, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose per Myceteae he has gone by a various number of names and we can have an endless number of discussions on this topic; i think it's best left Sean Combs. 750h+ 04:38, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
- Comment Many other people have been known by many names, and Combs has been known as Diddy for nearly two decades at this point. Snoop Dogg has also gone by Snoop Doggy Dogg and Snoop Lion while he was famous, and his page isn't called Calvin Broadus. In addition, the last move nomination was for the name P. Diddy, not Diddy. 2600:4041:57E9:8E00:C842:EFBB:E561:E1C1 (talk) 13:06, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

- Oppose. Same as last move request, Combs has had several names throughout his career. This is his actual name and there is no confusion. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 13:48, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose because of multiple names and stylizations. The birth name is still commonly used along with various nicknames, for instance by BBC recently. In that case, the birth name should stay. Binksternet (talk) 17:21, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
