How is there nothing in this article about the 1947 hearings with the Senate Special Committee to Investigate the National Defense Program? 72.78.149.143 (talk) 22:39, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Neurosyphilis
There is a sentence in the article that alleges that Hughes had 'brain trauma' from neurosyphilis diagnosed in 1932, which is indeed something that was reported on in their source, but autopsy showed that Hughes had never suffered from syphilis and with his history of medical treatment, he would have been cured of syphilis by the nature of the treatment. It is lazy to report that Hughes had syphilis-induced brain damage when there is no evidence to indicate as such 2A02:C7C:4698:F800:39E3:8C19:2B33:D76C (talk) 11:59, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes - the source is already cited on the page c[61] vs. c[161]. It is fine to report that Brown and Broeske's 1996 biography reports that he was diagnosed with neurosyphilis in 1932, but it is not fine to say that his actions were a result of brain trauma caused by neurosyphilis. Brown and Boeske's book is a non-medical biography and Tennant's (2007) article is specifically pre-occupied with reviewing the medical evidence, presents a medical history post-penicillin that would have cured him of syphilis and brain autopsy results that show no evidence of syphilitic lesions. 2A02:C7C:4698:F800:39E3:8C19:2B33:D76C (talk) 12:09, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
