Merger proposal

Merge the following pages into City of Greater Bendigo:

Outside of capital city wards (for instance, Paddington Ward on Brisbane City Council) I'm not sure how a full page for a regional council ward is justified? All these wards are new but details on ex-councillors could be included in a relevant section (such as City of Yarra#Past councillors) or a relevant page if expansion is needed (such as List of councillors of Alice Springs) Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 06:59, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose I mean, no one ever said only capital city LGAs can have pages on their wards... The LGA has close to 130,000 people after all.
I would like to add details on past councillors at some point, but I don't want to decide on how to do that unilaterally, due to the sheer mess that is Greater Bendigo's ward restructuring history. Viatori (talk) 07:11, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Totally agree we shouldn't only just keep pages if it's a capital city or not (and apologies if the earlier comment was unclear, I think your edits with Bendigo-area content have been really helpful) but I'm not sure what makes these wards notable enough for a full page? There only seems to be pretty routine coverage which I reckon could make up a section(s) on the CoGB page Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 07:15, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I do agree that sourcing on these articles isn't great. I do know I can find plenty more, and there's more information that I'm going to add onto these pages such as the history sections and in the introductions which I will update in the later half of the week when I'm not busy. The articles are in a bit of an early stage, and obviously not all have been created.
I worry that merging all of the information into a single page will be messy and difficult to read, especially with all the tables, which is why I'm reluctant to add it to the City of Greater Bendigo page, which is already a page which I've been meaning to clean up for a bit now. I'm open to ideas though. Viatori (talk) 07:21, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That's totally fair, what about something like Wards of the City of Greater Bendigo as a page including all the wards? Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 07:23, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm still going to Weakly Oppose just because I'm skeptical that it would look good on a page as more information gets added, but I'm not against dumping all of the past wards onto a single page such as a Former Wards of the City of Greater Bendigo page (or a better name hopefully) as they aren't really notable and there isn't really any new information on them that will get constantly added such as the current wards. Sorry to nitpick - I believe the style guide would have it as "Former wards of the City of Greater Bendigo" without a capital "W" just like Former electoral districts of Victoria (state) - but yes that would make sense for the former wards and I'm not against that page being created Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 06:32, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Haha all good. Lowercase it is then. Viatori (talk) 06:39, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
