I have tagged the lead section of this article as having extra information. See MOS:LEAD for purpose of the lead. It provides an accessible overview to the whole article. Information in the lead should be in the body of the article too. The body of the article needs to explain how the subject acquired the informal nickname "Cassi" as well as how she was a national spokesperson for the FBI. This second point is alluded to in the photo caption but is not explained in the text of the article. The nickname "Cassi" is not explained at all. Also, as this is an encyclopedia, why does the article title use her nickname, when more of the article's sources use her full given name in their headlines. Additionally, the article is not clear about when McWilliams changed her name to Chandler. Usually, this would be upon marriage, which happened after joining the FBI, so she would have initially been known as McWilliams, not Chandler. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 06:45, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
McWilliams married her FBI recruiter, this is widely reported in the RS whose last name is Chandler. She took the name Chandler after that. I had referenced the marriage in the original article.
She became the FBI spokesperson when she was appointed Assistant Director of Public Affairs. I made this more clear in the text.
"Cassi" is the name she uses professionally since leaving the FBI. It is in the sources from her professional site and how she is introduced when giving talks and presentations, as well as her board affiliations I did not write about. There is a link in the info box and several cited sources that have her name listed as Cassi. There are redirects of her full name to this page. If the full name is preferred the page can be moved. I just titled it this was as there is an author with the same name that appears frequently when looking for her, and this appears to be Ms Chandler's preferred spelling. Which paragraph discusses that Chandler was a national spokesperson for the FBI? There are a couple of photos that she was involved with FBI public affairs but nothing in the text of the article to explain what position it was, when it happened, or how important the appointment was.
Also, where does it say she now uses the name "Cassi"?
When she became the Assistant Director for the FBIs office of Public Affairs she became the Spokesperson. That is the job description. What is not clear about this?
Does someone need to have a article about how they use a nickname? The name Cassi is implied by the articles that have been written about her since leaving the FBI and her own website where she uses that name. lt is clear from these sources that this is the name she uses publicly and professionally now.
How is that not clear enough evidence? Please help me understand how these things are not well enough described in the article besides just reporting that it is not sourced. Thank you. Nayyn (talk) 09:24, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Nayyn: No it is not clear that by becoming the Assistant Director that she becomes the national spokesperson. This needs to be explained in the article that it is part of the job description. Also, the use of the nickname needs to be explained in the article too, not just appear in a cited source. The sources are not part of the text of the article, or are the photos or the infoboxes. Only the text below the table of contents matters when it comes to summarizing the article in the lead section. If its mentioned in the lead then it needs to be explained or discussed in the body text. See WP:LEADFOLLOWSBODY. Cameron Dewe (talk) 09:39, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
