"The 2014 race was the 64th running of the Macau Grand Prix, the 35th for Formula Three cars and the second edition of the FIA F3 World Cup." 2017 race, and for consistency, use 2nd not second.
"Seven drivers outside of Formula Three took part in the race" If you HAD to compete in a Formula 3 race, how'd these guys get in?
"Habsburg used his superior to straight-line speed" needs a rework
"As the two cars slid luridly around" Are we sure "lurid" is what is meant here?
"expressed a Macau return for 2018" Are we missing something like "expressed a desire for a Macau return in 2018"?

Could use a clarity rewrite.
