::{{ping|SilentResident}} Updating all these conflicts is very taxing while keeping a pure NPOV. Hence updated map to only include reactions of UN-member states. This results in some "gains" and "losses" for both sides, but establishes clear rules as to what will be depicted, hence avoiding edit warring. I think that is a fair compromise. Would love to hear feedback. [[User:Goodposts|Goodposts]] ([[User talk:Goodposts|talk]]) 13:20, 13 October 2019 (UTC) |

:::Yes I can see it being taxing. I personally wouldn't bother with states that lack any recognition and Northern Cyprus is exactly that. As French Guyana is full part of the French Republic, it should be on the same "red" as France is. Thanks ! |

Colour of Turkey
Coincidence you're choosing black? Please change it. Beshogur (talk) 08:37, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
- Black was chosen as it is a neutral color. It is frequently used in world maps in order to denote the country the other state actors are reacting to. Goodposts (talk) 19:15, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
- You can try to take darker grey. I don't know if you're intented to do it, but it pushes Turkey=ISIS POV. Beshogur (talk) 20:36, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Beshogur: I don't really think anyone assumes that, but in any case, I've changed the color to a dark grey instead of black. I hope you'll be satisfied. Goodposts (talk) 22:50, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for your precision. I aprreciate it. Beshogur (talk) 09:28, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

Green
Hi, Sudan and Somalia are also Green. 2A02:587:3806:9D00:9D75:F03E:5B25:67CA (talk) 13:11, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
- Please add the relevant citations for this on the page Reactions to the 2019 Turkish offensive into north-eastern Syria. Goodposts (talk) 19:28, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
Contested deletion
Not the original uploader, but lader editor - the maps are licensed under CC BY-SA, a very similar license to the one Wikipedia uses. I'll look into adding a license tag. Cheers, Goodposts (talk) 19:14, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
- You need to prove that. The license tag {{Self}} is used when the original uploader owns the copyright and is releasing it to the world under the indicated license. This is not the case when the image came from another website, and from that website's copyright watermark, it seems clear that they are not licensing it under CC. ST47 (talk) 19:19, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
- As I've said, I'm not the original uploader that placed that tag there. I've replaced the template with a CC-BY-SA 4.0 template. The evidence for the license is on the website's main page, which explicitly states the license that maps created using it's tool are subject to. Bulgaria, vocal neutrality
I added it to reactions. Beshogur (talk) 11:00, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- I've added it to the map per your citation. Best regards, Goodposts (talk) 13:21, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
Cyprus colors
@KasimMejia and Goodposts: KasimMejia, painting the entirety of the island as having 2 governments is wrong, as it isn't one state-two governments. It is two states two governments: the southern one which is internationally recognized (and it fully opposed Turkish invasion of Syria and thus should be colored red on that map) and the unrecognized northern one (which is dependent on Turkey and no country at all in the world recognizes it which makes its opinion kinda trivial). However if editors insist on adding Northern Cyprus to this map, I shall note that green color isn't the correct one for it, since its President opposed and its Prime Minister supported the invasion of Syria. --- ❖ SilentResident ❖ (talk ✉ | contribs ✎) 12:44, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- I generally try to avoid painting states with very little recognition, such as Northern Cyprus, which was the reason I didn't add it intentionally. However, due to the fact that it actually controls territory and per the insistance of some Turkish editors, I've decided to add it in order to not make it seem as though the map is attempting to portray Turkey is an unfairly bad light. You are entirely correct about it not being green, though, as there appears to be a dispute between the head of state and head of gov of the self-declared Turkish republic. For that reason, listing it as red/blue is, I think, a fair compromise. Should wikipedians instead agree on excluding non-UN backed entities, (which tbh isn't a bad idea), then I'm adding the code to the image, which ought to allow it to be easily edited back, without needing to revert.
