Wait and Bleed is a single by the band Slipknot on their second album Slipknot (self titled). The song's meaning is debatable but the phrase "I wait and Bleed" may be hinting at suicidal themes.

The song is regarded as an nu-metal song. It could be seen as one of Slipknot's softer songs in comparison to Heretic Anthem and People = Shit. The song focuses around a chorus which is sung many times. Interestingly the guitar in this song was not performed by Slipknot's current guitarist but was performed by Josh Brainard.

A rumored meaning is that it is about a man who is dreaming that he is in a bath tub with his wrists cut, but soon wakes up and finds out that he's not actually dreaming. But instead of getting help, he just "waits and bleeds"

This song also has a reference to The Manchurian Candidate.

"I've felt the hate rise up in me...
Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves...
I wander out where you can't see...
Inside my shell, I wait and bleed..."

 Good Bye

The song is sung by Corey Taylor (Slipknot's lead singer) except for in the last chorus where another member of the band, Shawn Crahan (band name "Clown" or 6) can be heard screaming the lyrics in the background at approximately 2:05 in the song.

The song was ranked #36 on VH1's Top 40 Metal Songs [1].

There are several different versions of this song:

  • Wait and Bleed which can be found in "Slipknot" album.
  • Wait and Bleed [Live] from Slipknot's "Spit It Out"
