I was going to review your Sargent DYK. However, just as you wrote, "this nomination procedure takes bloody ages. I doubt I will be bothering again", I found myself stuck at the [[Template:Did_you_know_nominations#How_to_review_a_nomination|reviewer's directions]]: "The bottom half of the nomination includes two lists of review points that you must check off". [https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/w/index.php?title=Template:Did_you_know_nominations/Ellen_Terry_as_Lady_Macbeth&action=edit Umm, no.] Of course I could follow the example of the other reviewers, but now I'd rather complain about what a convolution it all is. I fear that all of Wikipedia will eventually become like DYK; a bureaucratic maze of endless little policies that can't possibly stay self-consistent even if any human had the desire to follow them. Talking statues of Rome
I really think you should consider merging these five articles into the talking statues article. It makes sense that a reader would want to read about them all in one article, I found it quite annoying personally having to click my way through each one just to read another paragraph, and I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one. Villa Medicea del Trebbio
I added your Villa Medicea del Trebbio to the next update. It will be on Main Page DYK in a few hours. --BorgQueen (talk) 21:33, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- I was just about to "tick" it when BorgQueen added it to the next update. Thanks for jumping through all the hoops. I know it's frustrating, as I've been there on several occasions myself. Alas, what is "common knowledge" to some won't be common knowledge to everyone - as DYK tends to avoid statements of the blindingly obvious (as they "lack interest") then citations are required each time for consistency. Regards, BencherliteTalk 21:35, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Thank you both, but it all seems such pointless rules-lawyerly box-ticking. The hook is an entirely uncontroversial point (and, indeed, widely known in the relevant field), and about half of the other sentences in the article could have exactly the same footnote, so why pick this one out?
Anyway, that is my Wikipedia time for another day spent advocating for my old articles rather than writing new ones. Perhaps the Villa Medici in Fiesole or Villa Medicea di Poggio a Caiano next. -- Theramin (talk) 21:49, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

--Maxim(talk) 23:10, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry you didn't like the request for the cite, but we do have rules and if we start making exceptions pretty soon the whole system breaks down. If it's any consolation you are perfectly welcome to remove the cite once the article is off the front page. The cite is basically only there to help reviewers confirm the hook statement and for readers who might be interested in verifying the claim for themselves. - Hello, and thank you. Yes, I was welcomed before, but I blanked it a while ago (oh gosh, nearly 14 months ago - how time flies!). I am likely to be around a bit for a while, so I have reinstated my talk page.
- It was rather odd for us both to try editing that one page at almost exactly the same time, but no damage done, I trust. -- Theramin (talk) 00:16, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hello. I just assumed the blank user page was virgin territory. No damage done re the article edit--I reverted myself, assuming I had "edited over" your edit (an old copy of the page was still in my cache!), but I actually hadn't. Glad to hear you will be around a bit. Outriggr (talk) 01:50, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Wonderful article!
Hello! I just wanted to commend you on your wonderful new article The Hungry Lion Throws Itself on the Antelope. I am a major fan of Rousseau's art and I greatly enjoyed reading about the history of this significant painting. Good job! :) Pastor Theo (talk) 00:50, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

- Er, thanks. To be honest, I doubt anyone is going to write an article on Maria Baroncelli (but you never know, I suppose); I don't care too much for the various templates you added ({{nofootnotes}}, {{orphan}}, {{refimprove}}; and the references were in fact the references I used to write the article, not external links. But thanks for adding some categories - I clean forgot. -- Theramin (talk) 22:33, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
