• An Israeli strike strike on a United Nations school in Gaza kills 40 people and injures others, and gets widespread worldwide condemnation. [1](CNN) IDF reports that Hamas militants were there. UN denies this (BBC report: 10pm). Unrwa states artillery shells landed close to the al-Fakhura school where 350 people had sought refuge from the fighting on the outskirts of the Jabaliya refugee camp. Television footage showed bodies scattered on the ground amid pools of blood. UN officials said they regularly provided the Israeli military with exact co-ordinates of their facilities, and that the school was in a built-up area.
