  2. ^ According UEFA coefficients Austrian cup-winner is supposed to play in this round, but as Austrian Cup is reserved only for amateur teams this season, this qualification spot is given to 3rd-placed team from league competition.
  3. ^ CSKA Moscow still has chances to shift up to the first round, but only if they win Russian Cup. Then this spot will be given to FC Moscow.
  4. ^ The place for the defending cup holder is only used when that team has not otherwise qualified for either the Champions League or the 1st round of UEFA Cup through domestic competitions. If this place is not used, then the cup winner of the 14th association (Turkey) will gain direct access to the 1st round, and the cup winners of the 19th and 20th association (Israel and Serbia) will gain direct access to the 2nd qualifying round. Similar changes are done if the holder qualified for the 2nd qualifying round.
