Rajshree Thakur Vaidya (born 22 September 1981) is an Indian actress who primarily works in Hindi television.[1] Thakur is best recognised for her portrayal of Saloni Singh in Saat Phere – Saloni Ka Safar and Jaiwanta Bai in Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap. She is a recipient of an ITA Award and three Indian Telly Awards.[2]

Early life

Thakur was born on 22 September 1981, in Mumbai. Before her acting debut, she worked at All India Radio as a Marathi news reader and did ads for several companies.[3]

Career

Thakur made her acting debut in the 2004 Hindi film Hava Aney Dey, playing Salma, a Muslim girl opposite Aniket Vishwasrao.[4]

Thakur's career marked a turning point with Saat Phere – Saloni Ka Safar.[3] She played a dark skinned girl, Saloni Singh opposite Sharad Kelkar from 2005 to 2009 and earned her success.[5][6] Her performance won her the ITA Award for Best Actress – Popular and Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role.[7]

Following a five year hiatus, Thakur returned with Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap, where she played Maharani Jaiwanta Bai Songara opposite Shakti Anand.[8][9] The series won her the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.[10]

Post a second five year hiatus, Thakur played Preeti Jindal in Shaadi Mubarak opposite Manav Gohil, in 2020. She quit the series the same year due to hectic schedule.[11] In 2022, Thakur played Pallavi Gulati Jaisingh opposite Cezanne Khan, in Appnapan – Badalte Rishton Ka Bandhan.[12]

Since December 2024, Thakur is seen playing Avani Trivedi in Bas Itna Sa Khwaab opposite Yogendra Singh.[13]

Personal life

Thakur married her childhood friend Sanjot Vaidya on 7 February 2007, in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony.[14] Their daughter, Nyraa was born on 2 August 2017.[15][16]
