Kapušany (Hungarian: Kapi) is a village and municipality in Prešov District in the Prešov Region of eastern Slovakia.

History

In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1248.[citation needed]

Geography

The municipality lies at an altitude of 280 metres and covers an area of 11.3 km2 (4.4 sq mi) (2020-06-30/-07-01).[4]

Population

It has a population of about 2,264 people (2020-12-31).[5]

It is well known internationally through the popular polka tune, "Ja parobok z Kapušan" ("I am a bachelor from Kapusany").
