Mexican-American bishop-elect
José Maria Garcia Maldonado (born March 24, 1979) is a Mexican priest of the Catholic Church who serves as auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Chicago .
Early life
Garcia Maldonado was born March 24, 1979, in San Julián, Jalisco . He immigrated to the United States in 2001 and joined seminary for the Archdiocese of Chicago in 2002, beginning at Casa Jesus and continuing at Niles College Seminary .[ 1] [ 2] [ 3] Mundelein Seminary . On May 17, 2008, Garcia Maldonado was ordained to the priesthood.[ 1]
Episcopacy
Pope Francis appointed Garcia Maldonado auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Chicago , assigning him the titular see of Fallaba on December 20, 2024.[ 1] [ 4] [ 5] [ 2]
