Galaxy AI is a suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features developed by Samsung Electronics for its Galaxy line of mobile devices. Introduced in January 2024 with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy AI integrates on-device and cloud-based AI technologies to provide various AI-driven functionalities across Samsung’s ecosystem. The suite includes features such as real-time translation, AI-powered photo editing, and generative search tools.[1][2]

Overview

Galaxy AI combines Samsung’s proprietary AI models with partner technologies, such as Google's Gemini AI, to deliver a range of intelligent, context-aware functionalities.[3] The AI suite is designed to enhance user experience by providing real-time assistance, content creation tools, and productivity features.[4]

Features

Galaxy AI encompasses several AI-powered tools across different functionalities:

  • Call Assist – Provides real-time call translation and text-to-speech conversion, allowing users to communicate in different languages during phone calls.
  • Chat Assist – AI-generated writing suggestions and translation support in messaging apps.
  • Note Assist – Offers text summarization, auto-formatting, and organization tools for Samsung Notes.
  • Transcript Assist – Converts voice recordings into text, providing summaries and structured transcripts.
  • Interpreter – Enables real-time language translation through a split-screen mode for seamless multilingual conversations.
  • Circle to Search – Developed in collaboration with Google, this feature allows users to search for information by circling an object on their screen.[5]
  • Photo Assist – Includes AI-powered photo editing tools, such as Generative Edit, Object Eraser, and background enhancement for modifying images.[6]
  • ProVisual Engine – AI-driven image and video processing technology that enhances camera performance in low-light conditions and improves zoom clarity.[7][8][9]
  • Audio Eraser – Identifies and removes unwanted background noise from videos using AI-based audio separation technology.[10]

These features leverage on-device AI for privacy-sensitive tasks while utilizing cloud-based AI for complex processing needs.
