DescriptionIntermountain Power Project UT 2009.jpg
The Intermountain Power Project (IPP), operated by the Intermountain Power Agency, which, as you can see at that last link, supplies most of the 1800MW capacity of this coal-fired plant to the Los Angeles area. The coal it fires is all mined in utah and brought by rail. The site is on the floor of Lake Bonneville, an ice-age lake that filled much of Utah, and of which some puddles, including the Great Salt Lake, Sevier Lake, and Lake Provo, remain. To the east is the Little Sahara National Recreation Area. Southeast is the town of Delta, on he Sevier River.
