2013-2014

Tiqets was founded by a group of entrepreneurs including Luuc Elzinga. Its mission centered on removing barriers to accessing cultural experiences.[2]

2017

In April of 2020, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Laurens Leurink steps in as the CEO of Tiqets. The co-founder and former CEO Luuc Elzinga then becomes the president of the company.[12]

Tiqets integrated with Apple Maps, allowing users to book tickets directly from the map application, making it more convenient for users to access cultural experiences.[10]

2022

Remarkable Venue Awards

The Remarkable Venue Awards, organized by Tiqets, have been celebrating outstanding museums and attractions worldwide. These awards have evolved over the years, acknowledging venues that offer exceptional experiences.[13][14]

From 2024 onwards, Tiqets introduced local Remarkable Venue Awards in different regions to honor domestic attractions that excel in their offerings. The awards have multiple categories, recognizing various aspects of visitor experiences.[15]

Some past winners include the Keukenhof[16], The Beatles Story[17], the stadium of Liverpool FC[18], and the Sagrada Familia.[19]
