Calli Hauger-Thackery (born 9 January 1993) is an English international athlete.[1] She was bronze medalist in the women's half Marathon at the 2024 European Athletics Championships, and a member of the gold medal winning team in the 2024 European Half-Marathon Cup, held at the same time.

She represented Great Britain at the 2024 Paris Olympics and England at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.[1][2]

Career

Hauger-Thackery finished fifth in the 5,000m at the 2015 European U23 Championships.[3]

In June 2022 she recorded a personal best of 15:06.26 for the 5,000 metres, placing her 17th on the all-time UK list.[3] Representing England, she came 10th in the 5,000 metres at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.[3][4] A few weeks later she finished sixth in the 5,000 metres at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich, Germany.[4]

Competing in her first marathon, Hauger-Thackery won the McKirdy Micro Marathon in New York, on 14 October 2023, in a time of 2:22:17, achieving the Olympic qualifying standard in the process.[4][5]

In February 2024, she was named in the Great Britain marathon team for the Paris Olympics.[6][7]

At the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Rome, Italy, Hauger-Thackery took part in the half-marathon, winning an individual bronze medal and gold in the team event.[8][9]

She represented Great Britain in the marathon at the 2024 Summer Olympics but did not finish the race.[10]

Personal life

Hauger-Thackery was born in Yorkshire to mother Rachel, a county level sprinter, and father Carl, a professional long distance runner who won a bronze medal at the 1993 World Half-marathon Championships.[4] She was educated at the University of New Mexico[3][4] and is married to American marathon runner Nick Hauger.[11]
