Belden Tri-State Building Materials is an American company based in New York City that distributes brick and masonry products. Founded in 1930, it supplies materials such as clay brick, thin brick, brick pavers, glazed brick, architectural concrete, colored mortar, and natural stone to construction and restoration projects in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.[1]

Belden Tri-State Building Materials is a subsidiary of the Belden Brick Company, a family-owned brick manufacturer based in Canton, Ohio.[2]

History

Belden Tri-State Building Materials began operations in 1930 during a period of urban development in the United States.[3] The company has since expanded its product offerings to include masonry materials sourced from various manufacturers.[1] It has responded to industry changes, including increased demand for sustainable building materials, as noted in regional construction trends.[4]

Operations

The company operates offices in New York City at 333 7th Avenue, 5th Floor, and in East Rutherford, New Jersey at 99 Murray Hill Parkway, with an additional presence in Pennsylvania.[5] Its New Jersey facility includes warehousing and logistics operations.[6] As of 2023, it employs approximately 50 people and distributes products from manufacturers such as The Belden Brick Company and Mutual Materials.[1]

Notable Projects

Belden Tri-State has provided materials for architectural projects. In 2019, it supplied brick for Parlour Brooklyn, a residential townhome project in Brooklyn designed by INC Architecture and Design.[7] It also contributed brick to Apex Place, an affordable housing complex in New York City designed by FXCollaborative, completed in the mid-2020s.[8]

Environmental Impact

Brick production, part of Belden Tri-State’s supply chain, requires approximately 3 MJ of energy per clay brick and generates 0.2–0.3 kg of CO₂ per unit.[11] The company offers thin brick systems, which use less material than traditional bricks.[4]
