Ashmita Adhikari (Nepali: अश्मिता अधिकारी; born April 14, 1996) is a Nepali singer known for her participation in Nepal Idol Season 2, where she finished as the third runner-up. She has since established herself as a playback singer in Nepali films, with hit songs such as Sali Man Paryo and Tadha Vaye Pani. In addition to her music career, she holds a degree in nursing but has primarily focused on music.

Early life

Ashmita Adhikari was born on April 14, 1996, in Damak, Jhapa, Nepal.[1] From a young age, she showed an interest in music and actively participated in inter-school singing competitions. In addition to her passion for music, she pursued a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is a registered nurse.[2][3]

Musical career

Ashmita's musical journey took a significant turn with her participation in Nepal Idol Season 2, where she secured the position of third runner-up. Her participation in Nepal Idol Season 2 helped her gain recognition in the Nepali music industry.[4]

Her debut song, "Timro Mayale Badhera Rakha," received widespread acclaim and established her presence in the industry. She collaborated with Kali Prasad Baskota on the song "Sali Man Paryo" for the movie Ghamad Shere, which became a massive hit, garnering over 72 million views on YouTube. Another notable work includes her rendition of "Tadha Vaye Pani," which also achieved significant popularity.

Ashmita has further contributed as a playback singer for well-known movies such as Ma Yesto Geet Gauchu 2, Ghamad Shere, A Mero Hajur 4, Chapali Height, Rato Tika Nidharma, Prasad 2, Babari, Aaicho Paicho, and Jay Ho.

Personal life

In addition to her music career, Ashmita Adhikari has a background in nursing. She completed her BSc in Nursing and is a registered nurse. Despite her medical career, she has chosen to focus on her career in music.[5] She was in a long-term relationship with Mahesh Kafle, a Nepali musician and lyricist. The couple got married on March 7, 2025.[6][7][8][9]
