The result of the discussion was: speedy delete G7. ansh666 20:06, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- Draft:Kenridge Primary School (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Author @Barry Ne: asked me to delete this. Primary schools not notable so unlikely to ever make it to mainspace Gbawden (talk) 06:20, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Keep Some of this content, when it is ready, will be suitable for merging with Kenridge, Bellville. The latter article, accepted at AFC recently, was created by the same editor as this draft. I am willing to selectively merge it, if that is helpful. Thincat (talk) 07:03, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Speedy Delete per WP:G7 - author requests deletion. It applies to drafts too, folks. Exemplo347 (talk) 07:25, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Strong Merge and Redirect to Kenridge, Bellville per Thincat's offer. User talk:Gbawden#Draft:Kenridge Primary School makes it seem like the author's deletion request was because they believed the content was unsuitable for the encyclopedia; though it is not appropriate for a standalone article, Thincat has shown it is appropriate to cover it elsewhere. — Godsy (TALKCONT) 08:46, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Primary schools are merged to district. If verifiable, but not notable. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 09:50, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Accept and Redirect the topic is mentioned at the town name and makes a fine merge and redirect. Legacypac (talk) 11:04, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- MergingI have merged it into Kenridge Bellville so you may delete it.User:Barry Ne
- Have you read WP:MAD? SmokeyJoe (talk) 11:57, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- You seem to be the sole author, so you may request deletion. I recommend keeping the redirect to keep your edit history available instead of hidden. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 12:01, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- That's fine as well. — Godsy (TALKCONT) 17:51, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

- Note Why are people second-guessing the page author's request for deletion? It's a straightforward WP:G7 situation, and this is a highly unusual reaction to something that should be a simple & routine Admin action. Author requests deletion --> Tag with G7 speedy ---> Page deleted. Why hasn't this happened? Exemplo347 (talk) 15:06, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- I second guessed because I didn’t initially realise the deletion request came from the sole author. Get him to tag the page with {{db-g7}}. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 15:17, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Any G7 ought to be declined because deletion would be controversial. We do not always accede to article creators' requests, even if they are the sole editor. Thincat (talk) 19:08, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

- This entire discussion is an unnecessary exercise in bureaucracy. The sole author requested deletion. For some unexplained reason Gbawden opened this discussion instead of doing what they were supposed to do - tag the draft with a g7 speedy. Gbawden, why didn't you follow the usual practice? Exemplo347 (talk) 19:25, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- WP:PRESERVE. This discussion, unlike most here, is actually productive. — Godsy (TALKCONT) 20:42, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- Exemplo347 I didn't G7 it as I am not the author - my understanding is that only the creator (author) can G7 Gbawden (talk) 06:07, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- For future reference, that's not correct. If the author requests deletion, anyone can tag it as G7. Exemplo347 (talk) 06:46, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- Wikipedians requesting unnecessary deletions like this should be encouraged to do their own taggings. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 07:15, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
