There is without a doubt a real Dogwood festival in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.

Searching online sources, it is mentioned in a 2012 issue of "Vestavia Hills Community News". No article for this source. Were it created , it may well be

• either redirected to Vestavia Hills, Alabama
• or quite possibly, deleted outright, failing WP:GNG and any number of other policies or guidelines.

In "Vestavia Hills Community News" it is asserted that the Vestavia Hills Dogwood Festival is The Vestavia Hills Dogwood Festival began in 1964 and is the oldest in Alabama and second oldest in the United States. This assertion may be in fact true. That would indicate the notability of this particular Dogwood Festival. At present, the article lacks verification in independent reliable sources.

I would argue that this article fails WP:EVENT.

As an alternative, I would suggest WP:REDIRECTs to either of

• List of dogwood festivals
• Vestavia Hills, Alabama

I would suggest merging it with Vestavia Hills at best, unless there is more to those Southern 'belles' than it seems. There has been a similarly Antebellum-themed debate about the mascot of the Vestavia Hills High School recently. In any case, I had added a speedy deletion tag because this is an unreferenced stub which fails to ascertain real significance.Zigzig20s (talk) 06:30, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
