Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:51, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Winnieswikiworld,
It looks like this was an isolated incident of moving an article to the wrong namespace, which you then reverted, so this is just a message reminding you to be careful when moving any pages on the project and be sure to check the namespace field. Thank you for your contributions! Liz Read! Talk! 01:53, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Phomen Singh

On 5 February 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Phomen Singh, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Phomen Singh (pictured), an early Indian migrant to New Zealand, sold sweets and chutneys out of a suitcase? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Phomen Singh. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Phomen Singh), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Speedy deletion nomination of Chan Ah Chee

Hello Winnieswikiworld,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Chan Ah Chee for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Chan Ah Chee to be deleted, you can , but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

It started today on Monday June 16 and will run until Sunday July 13. There is over $3300 going into it, with $500 the top prize. If you are interested in winning something to save you money in buying books for future content, or just see it as a good editathon opportunity to see a lot of articles improved for subjects which interest you, sign up on the page in the participants section if interested. Hi Winnieswikiworld. Thank you for your work on Bertha Grace Nurse. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

A rather belated thank you for creating this well-crafted page. Notability is establish through recognition with the RRC for services in WW1, as well as other biographies.

Congratulations

Congratulations on your award!

I wanted to leave a personal note to say congratulations for receiving the award for Best Poster at Wikimania 2025. This is a wonderful reflection of all the hard work you've been doing at Auckland Museum and I'm so pleased the wider Wikiverse is acknowledging that work through this award. Mary Clemens de Lisle

Kia ora @Winnieswikiworld, hope you are doing well! I managed to get my hands on the book chapter for Mary Clemens de Lisle that we were missing and expanded the page based on that. I think it now (hopefully) meets SIGCOV, although it would definitely benefit from anything you all can find during the edit-a-thon on the 20th, especially anything about architectural projects she worked on! Best, Ewhite31 (talk) 09:59, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Kia ora @Ewhite31. Wow, the article looks fantastic well done!! We will hopefully be able to add more at the edit-a-thon too! Thanks for your great work! Winnieswikiworld (talk) 00:53, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox versus draft namespace

Kia ora Anjuli, are you aware of the difference between sandboxes and the namespace known as draft? It's generally advisable to create new articles in the draft namespace. That way, others who are working on the same topic will immediately see it. There's little chance of finding somebody else's work in their sandbox. WP:DRAFTINDEX has a bit more info about the topic. Schwede66 21:19, 20 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Kia ora, Yes I will pass this on to the students. They are using sandboxes first as they get used to editing but I can suggest using drafts moving forward :) Winnieswikiworld (talk) 21:25, 20 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
