Huntly Plantz draft page

Grand'mere Eugene, Happy New Year! I was hoping you would give me your advice about this draft. The young actor has been interviewed on an NBC show and has been in Lifetime and Disney movies. What do you think? Ready for review? explains

Thank you!

GreenBlueGreen

Hello, GreenBlueGreen, thanks for contacting me. I've reviewed the sourcing for this draft, and unfortunately, none of the sources meet criteria for WP:RS. Specifically, IMDb is considered unreliable (WP:IMDB explains why) and the interviews with Huntly Plantz are primary, consisting of information supplied by the actor himself, rather than secondary, fact-checked sources. If there are at least 3 reviews of his work that provide in-depth analysis of his performances in publications that are fact-checked, those could be sufficient to establish notability. As it stands, this draft lacks any reliable, secondary, in-depth coverage to establish notability. — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 05:09, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Grand'mere Eugene, Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review it. I didn't realize that IMDB wasn't acceptable; he is a child actor, so it is rare to see any discussion on him alone.

One thing I am confused about though, is child actors in general are not spoken of per se, most of these kids are not mentioned in their sourced articles: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joshua_Caleb_Johnson

Is it just luck that no one has deleted it yet, or am I not understanding another element?

Thank you, again.

GreenBlueGreen, the difference in sourcing between the Planz article and the Johnson article is that the Johnson article has one reliable secondary source that discusses his work in some depth, and two reliable, fact-checked sources listing his nomination for major awards. (I did revise the second ref in the chart, which did not name him specifically, to the url listed in that source for the final winners/nominees.) Award nominations are significant evidence of notability. — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 18:24, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Grand'mere Eugene,

This makes sense, thank you for the clarification.

The conundrum now is, according to Huntly's IMDB page, he has won a lot of awards, similar to the kid I linked:

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm11401564/awards/?ref_=nm_awd

What are your thoughts? Delete the primary sources and add these, and that is enough? Or not yet?

Merci beaucoup! GreenBlueGreen

GreenBlueGreen, I would leave the primary sources that consist of interviews, but seek out reliable secondary sources— You can use the interviews as a springboard for finding reliable secondary sources. For example, this IMDb source lists "3 wins and 3 nominations" which you can verify by searching on the films-- I found this TV Guide source that verifies "2024Young Artist Award-Best Performance in a TV Movie: Teen Artist: winner". Search the titles of films he has appeared in for reviews of Plantz's performances. Here's one source that appears to be reliable (the bright red typeface is somewhat off-putting!) which discusses his acting in some depth. This primary source lists 8 film credits, 8 television credits, and 2 voiceovers that you can use to search for independent reviews of his work. In other words, if you have sources that are unreliable, do searches for better sources that verify the information in the less desirable sources like IMDb. — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 23:37, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Grand'mere EugeneWow, you are so helpful! Thank you x100. This volunteer job isn't easy but with you out there, at least it's fun. GreenBlueGreen (talk) 13:27, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
