Question from Tyri Hansen (23:47, 26 December 2023)
Hey, Ferien:
My real name is Per Flaatten; I have logged in under a pen name, namely Tyri Hansen, which is completely fictitious; Tyrihans is the protagonist of a Norwegian a folktale of the same name. Tyrihans is basically, a male Cinderella, but the story is not as romantic as Cinderella's; rather, it's more of a comic mishap kind of thing. His reward, however, is the princess and half of the kingdom.
Anyway, I do not expect you to solve my problem, but how can I get help, since i can't even login. I have not found a category of communication, nor of role that can help, except for the name of the mentor (You!) assigned to my fake name.
I am Norwegian, but also fluent in English and French, I have a university degree and I'm 78 and retired.
In advance, thank you for ?any? help you may provide.
Hi Tyri Hansen, welcome! You messaged this to me on your account, as your first edit to Wikipedia, to my talk page, so you should be logged in? Happy new year to you too, and apologies for my somewhat late response. --Ferien (talk) 14:04, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
I would like to understand why I cannot upload an image of a public figure I found on the internet to enhance their page. Is there a way to use this image under the fair use policy?
Hi RajuGosling, welcome to Wikipedia. Most images you will find of public figures on the internet will be copyrighted and therefore cannot be uploaded here. Generally, you should only upload your own work. However, non-free content can be used under certain conditions, that can be seen at Wikipedia:Non-free content#Policy 2. If you have any other questions, feel free to send me a message. Thanks! --Ferien (talk) 16:17, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi Ferien!
I am copying and pasting the same message added to your talk page in Simple English wikipedia here too. The reason is that there are lots of related templates, found in Regular English wikipedia but lacking in Simple English wikipedia, which affect the appearance of the script in the desktop screen.
Could you please check the same following fonts?
Recently, I noticed a template that creates a difference between the appearance of Meitei script in desktop screen of people living outside Indian subcontinent. Could you please tell me which of the following are visible properly in your computer screen?
(1) ꯃꯩꯇꯩ ꯃꯌꯦꯛ - plainly written without the template
(2) ꯃꯩꯇꯩ ꯃꯌꯦꯛ - written without the template but with double brackets
(3) ꯃꯩꯇꯩ ꯃꯌꯦꯛ - written with the template, without double brackets, as Mtei
(4) ꯃꯩꯇꯩ ꯃꯌꯦꯛ - written with the template as well as double brackets, as Mtei
(5) ꯃꯩꯇꯩ ꯃꯌꯦꯛ - written with the template, with double brackets, but by lowering the letter "S" as "s", but with correct Meitei script code "Mtei", as Mtei
(6) ꯃꯩꯇꯩ ꯃꯌꯦꯛ - written with the template as well as double brackets, but by lowering the letter "S" as "s", but with correct Meitei script code "Mtei", as Mtei
(7) ꯃꯩꯇꯩ ꯃꯌꯦꯛ - written with the template without double brackets, but by lowering the letter "S" as "s", as well as wrong Meitei script code "mtei", as mtei
(8) ꯃꯩꯇꯩ ꯃꯌꯦꯛ - written with the template as well as double brackets, but by lowering the letter "S" as "s", as well as wrong Meitei script code "mtei", as mtei

Hi @Chesca1911: welcome to Wikipedia! There is a difference between earwitness and eyewitness. If the sources say she was an eyewitness to her death then yes it should be changed, but if it is indeed earwitness then it should stay as it is, as that is what the sources say. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 19:53, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
Does editing Wikipedia burn calories? If it does, does it count as exercise? ;)

Thank you! How are my edits accepted? I made an edit to a page for which I am knowledgeable. However, I did not realize it was this easy. Will my edits remain? What validation process exists and who manages this? Thank you!! --Jcs76 (talk) 16:36, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

Hello, I'm trying to correct an edit made in this page with the "statistics" section. It originally included rankings of the tournament teams that have all been eliminated. However it was recently edited to omit this information, I'm looking for tips on how to re-edit this to include the original information as well as the updates on said rankings list --DomeWritePls (talk) 02:37, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
Hi there DomeWritePls, welcome to Wikipedia. Sorry for the late response. You can go to the history of the article to see when the information was removed, and find out why it was removed. You then may be able to revert it by using undo, although it's likely you'll have to copy the text directly. You can see which text has been removed by using the prev button on the history. I hope this helps, please let me know if you need any more help. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 18:52, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
Hi Ferien, I want to add a book (biography) to an article about my father in wikipedia. How do I create the heading "Books" ? Thanks Emmanuelle --Leeecco7 (talk) 21:19, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
In Source editor, there will be a drop-down called "Advanced". Click on it, and you'll see Heading as the first tab, with levels 2 to 5.
In Visual editor, there is a drop-down box with Paragraph set to default. Click on it, and choose the heading size you prefer.
Hi Leeecco7, welcome to Wikipedia! I think Muonsneutrino has already given the answer you're looking for above, but if you need any more help, please feel free to let me know. Thanks! --Ferien (talk) 19:30, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
Question from Sharonlhagle (14:29, 23 February 2024)
Hi there, I am VERY new to all of this so please go easy on me! This is going to sound insane, but how would I format a date of birth when the month and day of birth is known, but the actual year is uncertain? The individual I'm working on was born on either November 14th, 1868 OR November 14th, 1875. My sources are conflicting, unfortunately. His marriage certificate states Nov. 14th, 1868, meanwhile his death certificate states Nov. 14th, 1875. I am not able to discern which of these years is actually correct. Would one simply exclude the month and day in favor of putting 1868-1875, or is there a better way to go about this to preserve his birth month/day?
Hi Egglions, welcome to Wikipedia and apologies for my slow response. I would format it as November 14, 1868 or 1875, similar to how it is done in Kim Jong Un, using a note to state the different sources showing different things. Let me know if you have any other questions or need any more help. Thanks! :) --Ferien (talk) 20:55, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

I created a page for Riverwalk Academy, but I wasn't sure how to add citations. I added links to internal and external cites, but wasn't sure if there was additional citing/references that I needed to include. --Dr.RobertCompton (talk) 01:06, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
Hi Dr.RobertCompton, welcome to Wikipedia. Citations are usually added with templates like cite web that makes citations appear properly. Articles should also have sources from secondary sources to prove their notability. Also, editors are strongly discouraged from editing/creating articles on topics they have connections to, per our conflict of interest guideline. Please let me know if you need any more help. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 15:27, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
Hello, for a class project, I'm required to make 15 edits to topics related to my research. None of my edits are being accepted, and I am at a loss for how to get anything accepted. I have tried to make sure my edits do not have a bias and use reliable sources. I have even tried to simplify my edits in the hope that some would be accepted, but are all immediately reverted by the same user. --Caaskoe (talk) 16:24, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
Hi, I wanted to ask something. I have an article that I want to upload but when I go to create it it says that it has been deleted a number of times. The article is just a battle I wanted to add. Shall I upload it anyway or not? --TakuyaYagami (talk) 20:10, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
Hi, I just checked, and it got deleted twice due to G5 Twice. Can i still try to make an article on it or not? I don't want to get in any trouble. Thanks. TakuyaYagami (talk) 19:01, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
TakuyaYagami, G5 applies for articles that were created by a user evading their ban or block. As long as this is your first account, and you weren't told to create this article by another editor, you are probably alright to create it, however it needs to meet notability guidelines. --Ferien (talk) 20:14, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi Ferien! I'm having some trouble with a page I'm trying to update about philosopher Gustaf Arrhenius. I don't understand whether the draft is published or under review. Previously there was a big yellow notice that said something like "This draft is under review, please be patient" but now there is no such message, but the page is still titled "Draft:Gustaf Arrhenius". --Kaede118 (talk) 07:09, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi Kaede118! Someone else used content translation to convert an article about the same person into a draft, which replaced what you had already written, including the Articles for Creation templates. I've reverted back to the version that was there before. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 20:21, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
Question from Muonsneutrino (16:43, 26 February 2024)
Hi Muonsneutrino, I'm really sorry I didn't respond to this until now. I thought I had addressed your question but it seems not. Details on using LaTeX in Wikipedia are available on Help:Displaying a formula. Again, apologies for the very late response. Feel free to ask if you need anything more. --Ferien (talk) 14:53, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
Hello, Ferien. I just finished writing a Wikipedia article. When I tried publishing the article, it said that it was unconstructive. What am I doing wrong? --CandleWickipedia (talk) 23:07, 12 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi CandleWickipedia, welcome to Wikipedia. As Ohnoitsjamie pointed out, the YouTuber you attempted to create the page on was not notable. Please do not attempt to create the page for this person again, as they fail Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Please let me know if you need any more help. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 14:29, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
Good evening CandleWickipedia, in my opinion, no, as there is not significant coverage in reliable, independent sources, per the general notability guideline. He also doesn't meet WP:ENT, the notability guideline for entertainers. You may find this page helpful for determining whether YouTubers meet our notability guidelines. It focuses on the notability guidelines that surround YouTubers, often "GNG" (General Notability Guideline) and "ENT" as I have already mentioned, and also gives an ongoing tally of Article for Deletion discussions on YouTuber articles, whether they resulted in keep/delete, the year, subscriber counts etc. Let me know if that helps, and if you have any more questions. Thanks :) --Ferien (talk) 21:18, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
I would like to add images to several different Wiki page. I have added some images already to the wiki commons page but when I add the provided provided link text to the wiki page the image appear inside a sub table within the right hand image table. I am familiar with HTML but I can't figure out how to fix this. --Esteroinfo (talk) 20:51, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
Sure, all 4 photos should appear above the single photo that is currently on the Estero, Florida Wiki page. I plan on adding a few more photos to that page (such as of the Hertz Arena which is in Estero as well as civic parks, as well as to the wiki pages of the various other South West Florida cities and towns once I learn how it is done. Thanks for your help.

Esteroinfo, hi, we don't usually format images like that in infoboxes. Instead multiple image is used to arrange the images automatically. Let me know how using that works, and if you need more help, feel free to let me know! --Ferien (talk) 15:53, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

I was looking for sources in a section that had none, when I saw that the ENTIRE text was stolen off a website. Since this is my first time, I am unsure what to do. could you help? --Slapplegod (talk) 17:53, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
I left a note on @Slapplegod's talk page in reply to this. The page in question is a WP mirror, which copied all of the text from here, not the other way around. PianoDan (talk) 23:18, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
Hello, I'm new here. I found on a page a mathematical formula that I believe needs a reference (which unfortunately I am unable to find and add myself). How can I point other users to this problem? Is it possible to add comments? For example, via the "talk" section? --FraGiovinetti (talk) 15:32, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi Ferien - I created an article in 2008, but although I entered my username and password today, these were no longer recognized. I now have new credentials. Do I need to create a draft article this time or is it possible to skip the draft? If you can't answer this, can you direct me to where I should ask? Thank you very much! --Meekpanda (talk) 19:03, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
Hi Meekpanda, as your new account isn't autoconfirmed yet, you aren't able to create any new articles without skipping articles for creation. Make sure to review H:RP to see if you're able to get back into your old account, or I believe you can email cawikimedia.org. Thanks, :) --Ferien (talk) 20:16, 6 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi, firstly I’m new at this! I don’t have a lot of time so I need to put links a such in?
The bungaroosh article was previous so inaccurate it was looked at as pure fiction.
The leading Sussex expert not on his 70,s is Neil England .
He actually knew the previous author of the wrong info posted , he was a planning officer with zero knowledge of bungaroosh.
I have know Neil England , where most of the revised info comes from, for thirty five year and he is highly respected in Brighton Hove and the coastal Sussex areas. He wrote a method to restor the banquet hall in the Royal Pavillion and was asked to repair it all. He has worked on hundreds of listed G1 and G2 buildings and is the go to consultant for bungaroosh.
The previous article was fantasy. Trains arrived in 1841 in Brighton and the regency period and the extensive use of multi Storey bungaroosh in 1811….. we laughed so much as ther were no old railway sleeper as there was no railway!
Please can you stop this other chap from constantly re editing the page putting back the nonsense? Maybe he is the author we can’t say but in the interests of Wikipedia it must be the truth! Thank you so much, I look forward to hearing from you. Steve --The Happy Potter (talk) 05:08, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
Hi! I've seen a lot of pages that Wikipedia said were supposedly "written like an advertisement", and I kind of see the advertising tone, but I have no idea how to help fix the tone. Can you give me some general tips on this? --Wikiology101 (talk) 20:14, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
Hi Wikiology101, I'm really sorry for the late response. The type of content reflected in those pages typically falls under those listed at this page. If you're looking to fix the tone of these articles, you need to ensure it doesn't fall under these five issues. I hope this helps, please let me know if you need any more help and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can. --Ferien (talk) 17:16, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
Hi Rcaj, I'm afraid my Spanish skills aren't good enough to the extent I can respond to this message in Spanish. Photos can be updated by finding the name of a file you want to replace the existing image with, for example let's use this file File:Greggs, King Street, Hammersmith 04.jpg. Simply replace the name of the old file to replace with the new file. For example:

appears as shown on the right. I hope this helps, please ask if you need any more help. Thanks! --Ferien (talk) 17:22, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
Hi Eba Ayalew, which issues are you facing here? What errors are you facing when you are trying to add about National ID to this article? Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 17:49, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
Hi! I’m trying to get real facts uploaded about Bungaroosh but I’m being blocked by two senior members.
Can you help? The references actual quote Neil Englands article re bungaroosh and the IHBC refer to Neil as an expert in bungaroosh.
Is this Wikipedia just a club for bored people with no interest in actual facts? Just keeping their status high? I’m saddened by this bullying based on no facts. People in Sussex are paying triple the building insurance rates if they live in a bungaroosh building as the insurance companies quote Wikipedia! Please jump in an help me. Steve --The Happy Potter (talk) 01:11, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
Hi The Happy Potter, I think this is best continuing discussing on your talk page to try and resolve this dispute. I don't see a need to get involved and take a side here at this point. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 18:30, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
Hi Crazypandapug, welcome! I'm not sure what the error is there, however c:File:NATO members (blue).svg is available on commons for you to view. I have encountered a problem with one of the references for the article I am creating, which is currently in my sandbox. I would like to include a piece from the Daily Telegraph (UK), 26 February 1988, Kitson, Robert, "Dolman leads old boys' tour." Unable to access it via Wikipedia or online, I visited the NY Public Library today, and they kindly emailed me a link. Unfortunately, this is via a proxy (Gale), requiring me to log in via my NYPL credentials, and I can't see how I can include the item. The link is: https://go-gale-com.i.ezproxy.nypl.org/ps/i.do?p=TGRH&u=nypl&id=GALE%7CIO0702455018&v=2.1&it=r&sid=bookmark-TGRH&asid=9cb0b329.
I do have an image of the story, but I can't see that there's any way of adding it as a reference if I save it as (say) a jpg.
Hello Meekpanda, do accept my apology for my late reply here, I have been taking a break lately as I have had other real-world commitments to focus on. I also have access to Gale through the The Wikipedia Library, as well as NewspaperArchive, but I was unable to find the article on both databases. If you login using the link you've used above, does the URL remain the same? Adding a paywalled link is ok, though it should link directly to the article. You can use Template:Cite news for any article regardless of URL, but I'm not sure this fits into the easy cases listed there and may be quite difficult to do manually. Let me know if you get a different URL for when you login, and I think we may be able to make a citation out of that. Sorry again for the late response. --Ferien (talk) 17:47, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
Hi Ferien - Thank you so much for following up on my query - very much appreciated! In the interim I took out what purported to be an all-access digital subscription to the Telegraph, but found that historical articles were not included. I am pleased to report that my article on Edward Dolman has now been published, but I would still like to include the citation, if you can guide me as to how to do so correctly.
... This is the link that the NY Public Library provided:

Hi, I did an edit and a user deleted my edit which I see as valid, I sent him a message asking for a reason, but he do not seem to care responding. Could you help me understand what I did wrong (if I am wrong) please, here is my message (topic : Nigerian Americans) :
@Magnolia677
Hi I justified my replacing of this phrase : [...]Most of the people who were stolen from Nigeria were likely to have been Igbo or Yoruba. Other ethnic groups such as the Fula and Edo peoples were also captured and transported to the colonies in the New World.[...]
by saying that : When citing other ethnic groups from Nigeria, mentioning the Hausas is more relevant than mentioning the Fulanis. The Hausas constitute the largest ethnic group in Nigeria, accounting for 30% of the population. Specifically, they make up 71 million out of the total 230 million citizens. In contrast, the Fulanis represent less than 6% of the population.
and you told me : This is not supported by the source cited
I do not understand, you want me to put a source for the Hausa population in Nigeria even though it is common knowledge ? I want to understand what I need to do when I edit I am new, thank you for your help. Hamdan Turji --Hamdan Turji (talk) 06:21, 11 June 2024 (UTC)

Brother eeww, your changes were being reverted and prevented by abuse filters because they were vandalism. Please stop doing that or you'll end up blocked. --Ferien (talk) 15:37, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
hey, I made a new wikipedia page and send it to be checked. I just wasn't able to change the title of the page and now it's just my name/sandbox. I saw on the internet you needed to click a "more" button, but I couldn't locate it. --Julie Deckers (talk) 12:12, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
Hi RememberingAnne, welcome to Wikipedia! To do that, you can just use the format below. You can work out where to add the external links section by looking WP:ORDER and comparing it to the article you're looking at. Thanks!
Good afternoon, Ferien. I just finished writing the English article on Farruko's debut studio album, "El Talento del Bloque," but am not sure how to submit it to be reviewed if I haven't already. Could you please help me out? Thank you very much. --CandleWickipedia (talk) 17:27, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
Hi CandleWickipedia, I'm not quite sure what happened, but your draft article didn't have an AfC tag on it. To submit an article for creation, you can simply add to the top of an article and it'll submit. I've already submitted the draft article you created for you. Please let me know if you need any more help! Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 15:50, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
I'm a little confused... I only created an account because I use Wikipedia quite often, but I do not intend on editing anything... at least as far as I've ever thought of. I guess if I happen to see something that I feel strongly about then I'll contact you first. That is what you're here for, right? 🤔 🙂 still a bit confused. --CelticArchangel77 (talk) 19:24, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
CelticArchangel77, yep, I'm here to help you if you need any help in editing or if you might see something that needs a look at from someone else. Let me know if you need anything :) --Ferien (talk) 15:43, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

Hi 33736Traceflix5efren, welcome to Wikipedia! Of course I can help you learn how to edit. Is there anything specific I can help with, as I can't teach everything about editing Wikipedia all at once! :) --Ferien (talk) 15:38, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
Hi Dilshad ali shigri, welcome to Wikipedia! Apologies about the late response on my end. Writing an article on yourself is strongly discouraged per our conflict of interest guideline. However, if you wish to create an article about another topic, you can follow the steps in the article wizard. Feel free to ask if you need any further assistance. Thanks! --Ferien (talk) 14:12, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
Hi 33736Traceflix5efren, I'm a bit confused by your request. WikiHow and Wikimedia/Wikipedia aren't related, but everyone here is a volunteer and is welcome to help out as little/as often as they would like or are able to. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 14:14, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
Hi Aditya Bijarniya, I guess you can verify something in the article to see whether it is reflected on in reliable sources, if you're referring to things you see on Wikipedia that aren't factually correct. If that wasn't the question you were asking, please let me know. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 14:16, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
Aditya Bijarniya, ah. That makes more sense. Please see Wikipedia:Controlling search engine indexing for a table that explains this. If you have a Mainspace article that is patrolled and/or has existed for more than 90 days, it will show up on search engines. If neither of those conditions are true, it will not show up. Additionally, if your article is in Draft: space, it will not show up in search engines. I hope this helps, feel free to ask if you need anything else. Thanks! --Ferien (talk) 00:10, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

My homepage says you're my mentor. I'm not really sure how to go about this, nor do I have any specific question, but I'd greatly appreciate any help or advice.
Currently, I mostly patrol (unofficially) Special:NewPages, and I make minor edits to articles I come across naturally. I'd love to make some more substantial/normative contributions to the mainspace, though. Do you have any advice or guidance on that?
Hi Papa Bryan 4444, welcome to Wikipedia! It looks like you worked it out, but I partially reverted your edit, because we don't need to link to the same page in See also. If you need any more help, please let me know. Thanks :) --Ferien (talk) 13:51, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
Hi DANiHeARTz. .MEE, welcome to Wikipedia. The code behind the signature is the following: <span style="background: maroon; padding: 3px; color: white;border-bottom:3px solid #400;">-1ctinus📝</span><span style="background: #216; padding: 3px; color: white; border-bottom: 3px solid #103">🗨</span> Based on that, you can make whichever changes you like, although you might want to ask 1ctinus whether they're alright with you using their signature as a base. Hi Katie200877, welcome to Wikipedia. The easiest way to create a citation is by going to visual editor, and pressing "Cite" in the toolbar. You can then enter in a web address and it will (usually) create the citation for you. If you have any further questions, or your reference is a bit more complicated than that, feel free to ask! --Ferien (talk) 13:39, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
I made changes to the following site, because it was extremely difficult to follow. Please let me know if this was inappropriate or not. I know with my disability and my experience in engineering and technical writing that the site was difficult to follow and I needed to split the verbiage up in away that lend to efficient reading and portrayal of the information while consistent with the intent of the original content.
Hi Ferien, I've got a quick question about references. Is it ok to reference trustworthy sources that are in different language to the article, for example can I reference a Portuguese source to an article in English. In this case I am looking for references for the wikipedia page on Paqueta island. Thanks --Leaves of grass again (talk) 09:07, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

Hello. I would like to update the stats for an infobox using the current year's fact sheet. Would I create a new citation since the reference for the fact sheet was made in 2020? Or would I make a note on the existing reference that the new information was retrieved this year? --CMC Data Editor (talk) 20:14, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
MarianMinerCMC, hi, welcome to Wikipedia! Apologies for the fairly slow response, I have not been keeping up with the responses on this talk page properly over the last few months and I am trying to resolve this. I would use a new citation to make sure all the variables in the citation template are correct. You can use the Reference tool in the Visual editor to speed up the process and create a reference automatically. Feel free to ask if you need any more help. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 21:10, 10 September 2024 (UTC)
Hi UMAR FARUK ALI, welcome to Wikipedia. Apologies for the fairly slow response, I have not been keeping up with the responses on this talk page properly over the last few months and I am trying to resolve this. Firstly, you need to follow the article wizard, creating a new draft through the "articles for creation" process. Once you are finished, you can submit your draft for review. Someone will then review it and publish it into mainspace/as an article, if it meets Wikipedia guidelines. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 21:12, 10 September 2024 (UTC)

Question from Shanna Eslao (08:22, 24 August 2024)
Hi Shanna Eslao, welcome to Wikipedia! Sorry for the somewhat slow response, I haven't been keeping up with the messages on this talk page lately. You can refer to the guide of Help:Editing, a guide to edit, and Wikipedia:Editing policy, what you should do when editing. Feel free to ask if you need more help. Hello Ferrin (sorry that I did not make a note of how to spell your name, now I am in this text box and cannot see it, spelled phonetically based on how it sounded when I sounded it out), I am an American physician with a long history of work in the fairly rare field of American Social Medicine. I am fully trained and board certified in Family Medicine (like U.K. General Practice), Geriatrics, and Emergency Medicine. I took a fellowship in Social Medicine but America has no Social Medicine board certification organization. I would like to edit the Wikipedia article on "social Medicine" to add important history and references which I have gathered over over the last 50 years. Please recommend how you think I should proceed. This would be my first edit of a Wikipedia page. Many thanks, Frazer --Cfs1949 (talk) 15:03, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
Cfs1949, hi, welcome to Wikipedia! No worries about the name - it's not personal to me so I don't take any offence. I'd say be bold and update the article. If your changes end up having an issue, they'll be reverted by another editor, who will tell you how to fix them. Wikipedia:Be bold explains this in greater detail. Sorry about the fairly late response, I'm trying to keep up with my talk page again after it getting quite a lot for me over the past few months. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 21:18, 10 September 2024 (UTC)
Many thanks. Will do. Looking forward to being BOLD! I will review the article first...Frazer 8.2.72.7 (talk) 13:56, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello,
It appears that I have been blocked and am not allowed to make an edit to my brother's "Ray Kurzweil" Wikipedia page. I am Ray Kurzweil's sister and I am attempting to correct the information about me. At the end of the section - Early life - It says "He has one sibling, Enid".
I am attempting to add the following words "Kurzweil Sterling who is a Latin ballroom dance competitor and lives in Paris, France."
Why is it such an offense to the policy that I am more than just someone who has a first name? My father was allowed to be a concert pianist, my mother was allowed to be an artist, Ray's wife is allowed to be a psychologist, his children are allowed to have professions.
I want it to say - "He has one sibling, Enid Kurzweil Sterling who is a Latin ballroom dance competitor and lives in Paris, France." --Enid Kurzweil Sterling (talk) 14:30, 15 October 2024 (UTC)

Hi Sha.whitehead, apologies for my slow response. In visual editor, you can simply click the "Cite" button, between the link and bullet point buttons, and then add the URL of your reference in to automatically create a reference. If you need any more help, do let me know. Thanks! :) --Ferien (talk) 15:26, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
Hi - I have a question about the user sandbox. When I create the sandbox page to work on an article. In order to save my work to the sandbox, do I select the "publish page' button. Does that simply save my work? If I want to work on a couple articles at the same time in the sandbox, do I just create a sandbox1, sandbox2. I guess I want to make sure it stays in the sandbox and doesn't accidentally go out for review. Thanks for your help. Adrana --Jobankaz (talk) 18:31, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
Jobankaz, yep, apologies for the slow response, but you can create as many user subpages as you like if you're working on multiple articles at once. You can use sandbox1, sandbox2, but you can also use the article name, like User:Ferien/Example, if you like, it's up to you :) Let me know if you need any more help. Thanks! --Ferien (talk) 15:28, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
How do I save Wikipedia pages to have offline?
I am using a computer...I have this app on my kindle, but i can't figure out to save the pages on my computer. I thought that I just had to make an account on Wikipedia in order to do that, yet, it still doesn't work. HippieGirl09 (talk) 13:22, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
Hi HippieGirl09, welcome to Wikipedia. There's no offline Wikipedia function within Wikipedia, however, you can use apps like Kiwix - this is available on desktop and mobile. There are a number of other applications you can use to do this, that are listed at Wikipedia:Database download#Offline Wikipedia readers. I hope this is useful to you. Please don't hesitate to ask if you would like any more help. Thanks! --Ferien (talk) 15:30, 21 October 2024 (UTC)

Hi, I have a question: how do you add segments on different pages? What I mean is how do I add a different section that I can open up like references or Career or stuff like that. --Luca 102 (talk) 21:53, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
Hi Luca 102, you can start a new section by using the wikicode == Example section ==. If you add another =, for example === Example subsection ===, it becomes a subsection of that section, and you can keep adding more =s on the beginning and end to have subsections of those subsections. I hope this helps, feel free to ask me if you need any more help. Thanks! --Ferien (talk) 22:27, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
Question from Mirvanamilano (10:00, 7 November 2024)
Good morning. Mirvana is an Italian brand, and we want to publish about Mirvana on Wikipedia. How is this possible, please? I don't want to do anything that's against the rules, but I do know that brands are allowed over here, and I do want to write about ours. It's https://lemirvana.com (find us on IG by @mirvanamilano ) - Also a second question, if we want to publish an article about the founder? - she's doing many different businesses and she wants to be found online with all the information she wants to share, not randomly what different publications would post, and Wikipedia is the best place for this. Please let me know for both. Thank you! --Mirvanamilano (talk) 10:00, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
I wanted to check in on the Sandbox entry I made for Bryan Wells. I tried to best mimic the approved pages from his main collaborator, the late Ron Miller to ensure the content was direct, sourced, and hit a high standard. I'm curious about what kind of time frame it takes to approve pages. --MOWM (talk) 22:53, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Question from Mirvanamilano (11:09, 19 November 2024)
Hi. We are a registered Italian luxury brand, and we'd like to establish ourselves by having a Wikipedia page of our brand - Mirvana (our company is registered in Italy as Mirvana Srl, and the brand is also registered in Italy). I remember many years ago when I was contributing to history related articles, that my back-then mentor said, that brands and companies can have their own pages posted on Wikipedia with external link to them. Our brand is in the luxury sector, and it's going to be here for a long time, so I want to check where and how I can publish it on Wikipedia? --Mirvanamilano (talk) 11:09, 19 November 2024 (UTC)

Question from BlizzardHero (10:38, 14 December 2024)
Hello, quick question about linking to external resources. How granular should external links be? To illustrate, two examples: an oral history collection about a town linked to the page for said town (for which none of the interviewees should receive their own page), and a single audio recording in an archival database.
In the first case, oral history collections might be conducted about a subject, but might be too broadly related in their subject focus. In the second case, the resource might be too granular and thus not worth linking to. I couldn't find clarifying examples in the external links guide page, so I'm sorry for asking. Thanks! --BlizzardHero (talk) 10:38, 14 December 2024 (UTC)

I do not believe this entry is correct. The ancient Levites were exempt from The Temple Tax in ancient Israel as they were not counted in the census and were priests. The Levite tribe was the priestly tribe and separated into Cohens who were a higher priestly family that are descendents of Aaron. The Levites that served The Temple. --Brierforest1 (talk) 18:12, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

Age 82, poor eyesight and new technology has me wonder if BroadCom or competitor may have reproduced Q&A4.0 for use on Windows 11 ?
