Anarchism

Hi Aristoxène,

I saw your work on articles related to anarchism and wanted to say hello, as I work in the topic area too. If you haven't already, you might want to watch our noticeboard for Wikipedia's coverage of anarchism, which is a great place to ask questions, collaborate, discuss style/structure precedent, participate in edit drives, and stay informed about content related to anarchism. Take a look for yourself!

We also have a mailing list if you'd like to be notified of upcoming edit drives.

Feel free to say hi on my talk page and let me know if these links were helpful (or at least interesting). Hope to see you around. czar 13:55, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, @Aristoxène, I've really been sleeping - I knew I'd come here to find that czar had beaten me to the punch, but by three months?! I'm delighted to see someone working on 19th-century French anarchists. Welcome! -- asilvering (talk) 21:17, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Asilvering Hello and thank you for welcoming me. I didn't thank @Czar at the time because I was on the 'not talking to anyone and be discreet' mood since I was harassed on the FR:WP by some users. So I do it here at the same time too. I have some obligations I have to do in the near-future but I'm trying to buy 'Léauthier l'anarchiste' in the coming weeks, I feel that this book, even though not to be found online, will help me do the Léauthier page ofc but also the 1894 anarchist 'bagnard' revolt, which seems to be the only revolt in the history of the Bagne - kinda cool. So we'll see about that but I'm sure it is interesting ! Thank you again to both of you :) Aristoxène (talk) 09:14, 6 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have a copy of the first/1999 edition in storage. :) Always happy to help get scans of any passages you need. czar 13:00, 6 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Czar Hey, I answer only now but because I planned to go see in some bookstores if I could find it, and indeed I found it + I found the book of Bouhey, which I read a bit and it's indeed a big banger lol, so I will be able to use that very clearly, at least to correct the EoA page which I wrote before and needs to be improved and clarified and more organized, I feel like. But at least I have those two books to help :) Thank you for your help though, I thought I was gonna agree to your generous offer in the case I couldn't find it but since I did, well... Anarchy (essay) moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Anarchy (essay). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and it has too many problems of language or grammar. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit for review" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. TheTechie@enwiki (she/they | talk) 03:57, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Christos Konstantinidis (anarchist), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Freedom (newspaper). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

I have sent you a note about a page you started

Hi Aristoxène. Thank you for your work on Jean-Pierre François (anarchist). Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thanks for bringing across this translation (and for your original work in French). Note that page should only have categories that exist. Of course, it's always possible to make categories ... Also, you have quite a few red-links. It might be helpful, when constructing pages, to use inter-language links (see template:ill) to the corresponding French article (for example), if there is a corresponding page in another language.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Klbrain}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Getting spurious mention notifications whenever you edit Talk pages

So this is really bizarre, but I'm constantly getting notifications like "Aristoxène‬ mentioned you on the ‪Saint-Germain bombing‬ talk page", with a pointer to a diff that, as far as I can tell, does not actually mention me anywhere! Any idea what could be causing this? The only link I can think of is that I've been active on Zizians, which is a part of Wikiproject Anarchism, but I don't understand how that could possible cause mentions from other pages. Jpatokal (talk) 05:01, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Jpatokal :)
First of all, I obviously want to say that I don’t know you, and if you’re receiving such notifications, it’s certainly not my intention. Has this only happened on this newly created page, or on other pages I’ve created as well? And does it only affect discussion pages, in which case I suppose one of the added projects is identifying you? In any case, please know that I have no idea how this is happening, but we can try to look into it—I don’t know. Aristoxène (talk) 09:58, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Bizarre. I've received half a dozen of these notifications by now, including these: [1], [2], [3]. All seem to involve you adding the same template to Talk pages. Jpatokal (talk) 12:01, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Jpatokal It is possible that I copied and pasted these projects from a different page (or multiple pages) that dealt with similar topics, and then I copied and pasted them with more or less modification depending on the pages created. It could be that some kind of invisible tag identifies you because you may have participated in the original talk page where I took these projects from. In any case, this is the only hypothesis that seems relevant and possibly somewhat true to me. Otherwise, I cannot say, and it would be best to check with Wikipedia authorities directly.
For the next pages I create, I will try to avoid this issue by rewriting the text from scratch instead of copying and pasting. I hope this will resolve the problem, but if not, let me know, and we can ask Wikipedia directly. Aristoxène (talk) 15:15, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Jpatokal Did you receive a notification for Joseph Jas-Béala ? Aristoxène (talk) 01:47, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I did. I don't think it has anything to do with the text you are entering, but it's somehow tied to the templates that are getting expanded. I'll file a bug once I can figure out where this belongs. Jpatokal (talk) 04:56, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Came here to say this :) you can avoid sending out pings by not adding your signature, which you don't have to do anyway. theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 06:39, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Theleekycauldron Thank you very much for that info, or we would have been looking for a long time lol. I would like to create Talk pages without the signature, in fact, and if you check all the pages created, you can see that I systematically remove the signature in the second edit made on the talk pages, because I thought it was unavoidable that the signature be added in the creation. If you can tell me how to avoid putting this signature, it would be great and like that we could avoid this kind of problems ^^ Aristoxène (talk) 09:41, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you're using the mobile web interface, if you click "Add topic" (blue button) it'll automatically include a signature as if you're starting a new discussion but if you click "Create" at the top of the page, you can edit the wikitext directly without creating a new discussion and adding a signature. czar 13:12, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello here @Czar, thanks for that, I'll try that next time. I didn't know that this was possible. Well, for the next ones I will try to to that without signature (I use the web basic version though) and hopefully the issue will be resolved and Jpatokal will stop receiving notifications on the pages of obscure 19th century anarchists lol. Aristoxène (talk) 14:21, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, you can also use scripts like WP:RATER to add wikiprojects. If you're adding the same ones over and over it's going to be easier to copy and paste them like you've been doing, but rater is pretty handy otherwise. -- asilvering (talk) 16:51, 12 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Asilvering Thank you for the tip, I'll check that out when needed if I remember (not sure but hey !) Thank you a lot though Aristoxène (talk) 13:54, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Anarchist Barnstar
Lately I've seen you doing a lot of amazing work writing and improving articles on the French anarchist terrorists of the 1890s. Your work is very much appreciated, and I look forward to reading more from you in the future! --Grnrchst (talk) 14:30, 12 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you a lot, I see that you are with Czar and a few others one of the main participants to the project, so I receive your message with a lot of consideration and thank you profusely too ! Aristoxène (talk) 15:31, 12 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
