I grew up in Clarinda, Iowa and graduated from high school there. I am retired from the U.S. Army and have lived in Indianola for over 25 years. I graduated from Simpson College with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, and from Iowa State University with an MBA and a graduate minor in Computer Engineering.

My purpose for participating in Wikipedia is to try adding a little value to Iowa articles and occasional other random things.

As an avid science fiction reader, I was always intrigued with Asimov's Encyclopedia Galactica and with Adams' Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. With wireless Internet devices becoming ubiquitous, it seems that Wikipedia really is becoming a combination of both those fictional encyclopedias.

I don't like vandalism of pages, and that led me to register and make my first registered edit. I had previously created the Simpson College page as an anonymous user.
