Thunder (French: Foudre) is a 2022 Swiss drama film written and directed by Carmen Jaquier.[1] Lilith Grasmug stars as Elisabeth, a young woman who, after spending several years in a convent school preparing to become a nun, returns home following her older sister's death and finds that her desires have changed.[1]

Jaquier has said that the film was inspired by the discovery of old notebooks belonging to her great-grandmother, which revealed details about her daily life and her relationship with God.[1]

The film premiered in the Platform section at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, 2022,[2] and in the New Directors section at the 70th San Sebastián International Film Festival.[3] The film was selected as the Swiss entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards.[4]
