General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Article is new enough and long enough; well-sourced, neutral, BLP-compliant, and copyvio-free. Objections were raised against ALT1 by Narutolovehinata5, leaving ALT0. I'm not a big fan of ALT0, so I added ALT2. I can't approve my own hook, so I'm asking for a second opinion. I think there's also opportunities for new hooks if nobody likes ALT0 or ALT2. ALT1 struck. Viriditas (talk) 03:21, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Happy to pass ALT2 as interesting, cited, and verified by this Rolling Stone article. The image probably can't run, per Try to avoid images that divert readers from the bolded article into a side article in WP:DYKIMG. Tenpop421 (talk) 21:38, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Owing to a discussion at WT:DYK regarding the interestingness of the promoted hook (ALT2), I've gone ahead and pulled this hook from prep. The following hooks were also proposed in the discussion:
ALT3: ...that Margaret Qualley had to confirm Lana Del Rey did not leak her wedding date on a song?
ALT4: ...that there was speculation Lana Del Rey had leaked a celebrity couples' wedding date on a song?
Source: https://www.nme.com/news/music/jack-antonoffs-fiancee-confirms-lana-del-rey-did-not-leak-couples-wedding-date-on-margaret-3443313, https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/lana-del-rey-jack-antonoff-margaret-qualley-wedding-date-1234734440/
Normally I would have just swapped it out with one of the above, but I have reservations about either hook meeting WP:DYKHOOKBLP, so I brought the nom back to unapproved for more discussion. Another alternative hook about the song reaching Silver in the UK was also proposed but I have not included it here as it probably does not meet WP:DYKINT.
A possible third option could be a reworded version of ALT2 that largely keeps the wording but specifies who Antonoff and Qualley are, for the benefit of readers unfamiliar with them. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 04:01, 14 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Jolielover, Viriditas, and Tenpop421: I agree that both ALT3 and ALT4 both violate WP:DYKHOOKBLP. New hook needed.--Launchballer 15:06, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Launchballer:
ALT0a solves my concerns with the originally-promoted hook. Just waiting for Jolielover and Viritidas's responses. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:25, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I like the hook jolielover♥talk 02:50, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Suggest going back to "simple" (more similar in spirit to the first hook):
The lowest common denominator here is simple human emotion, even if you don't know who the actress is, and there is mystery as well – was the song written for or about her and by whom, or was there another reason she cried? Cielquiparle (talk) 04:49, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
ALT0b is also a good option. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:39, 28 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • In the interest of this moving forward I'll be checking ALT0b. It's cited inline and verified in the Today.com source. Assuming there are no further issues, then I am approving ALT0b as the most interesting and BLP compliant hook. The rest of the review is per Viriditas.
