Kosovo is not recognized country. It is formally part of Serbia, protected by international forces (KFOR), regulated by UN declaration no. 1244. That is why this city and also other cities is formally part of country Serbia, and it is Serbian province. Hi everyone, I would like to raise a question regarding the conceptual scope of this article, particularly the distinction between the city of Mitrovica and its current municipal division. As I understand it, Mitrovica is historically and geographically a single urban settlement that, since the post-1999 period and especially after 2013, has been governed by two separate municipalities (South Mitrovica and North Mitrovica). In several parts of the article, however, the city appears to be implicitly equated with only one municipality, while the northern part is treated as a separate “city” in a parallel article. From a Wikipedia-style perspective, this seems to conflate urban settlements with administrative units, which are normally treated separately (for example in articles on Mostar, Jerusalem, or Brčko, where administrative divisions are discussed within a single city article). Would it be worth clarifying more explicitly in the lead and structure of this article that Mitrovica is one city administered by two municipalities, with North Mitrovica covered primarily as a municipal entity rather than a separate urban origin? I believe this could improve clarity and consistency, while still reflecting the current political and administrative reality using reliable sources (OSCE, UN, EU, etc.).
