Are the just-so stories based on indian, Arab, Persian or other sories from other cultures? The story about the whale has an American `feel' to it. Barney Bruchstein (talk) 19:02, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi at @Barney Bruchstein: It is an interesting question. There is a shift, I think, in the tone of the stories, sometimes musing and other times parodying. The tale you mention is discussed at one website, http://www.kiplingsociety.co.uk/rg_whale1.htm, the notes there are fairly conservative but extensive.
