hello, in the middle of a copyedit of this. massive one, from the request on the GOCE page. as much as i love all of your research (seriously!! its crazy) another large tip i would give y'all is to possibly split this one up. an example would be with other albums like MBDTF, and how it features a page for each song. you have the research to to that and I think it would put the prose significantly down for an article with the complexities you all have. no need to take my advice, but feel free to discuss >:3 -Astral~(he/him/his)16:12, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Split proposal
Per the above section, I propose we split the following:
The proposed splits both make sense to me! We could also probably tighten up Illmatic#Songs a bit by shortening or removing some of the longer quotations from the album's lyrics. Specifically, the quotations from "One Love" and "It Ain't Hard to Tell" can probably be axed entirely without losing any meaningful content; I think there's also room to streamline the various quotations from "Represent". I agree with the split to Impact and Legacy, but I weakly disagree with splitting Themes - it seems like something that should be contained within the article? Especially as it's much shorter than the Impact and Legacy section. Rafplayz001(talk | contribs)01:59, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead and made the cuts I suggested earlier to the "One Love" and "It Ain't Hard to Tell" quotations in Songs. Also, the proposal to split out the Impact and Legacy section seems uncontroversial thus far, so should we go ahead and put it in place? I'm happy to give it a shot myself within the next few days, but if anyone else wants to take point on the split, please feel free to beat me to the punch. I am concerned that this article no longer meets the good article criteria. Some of my concerns are listed below:
The article has numerous "citation needed" tags from 2023. There are also uncited statements at the end of some paragraphs and missing citations for some accolades.
Unreliable sources are used in the article like wordpress websites, blogspot websites, and tumblr websites. These should be replaces with reliable sources.
If these are the only issues, I think I can fix them. However, I am unsure exactly how long it could take, so if at some point you feel like it's taking too long, feel free to move it to GAR. As for accolades, it's part of a bigger problem. At some point, an editor mass removed citations to Acclaimed Music (I mean, it was a correct thing to do, but the execution was less than ideal), leaving holes in hundreds of these old articles. I was slowly going through them last year, but I only had so much free time and enthusiasm, so, regrettably, I put this project on hold. In this particular case, I think it's better to just turn the accolades table into prose, removing the ones that are impossible to verify (I have access to about half of them). @Z1720 I've replaced unreliable and/or dead sources, removed/replaced text where I thought it was necessary, added sources to the Sample credits section, and turned unsourced accolades table into prose with citations. AstonishingTunesAdmirer連絡17:32, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
