Page moves
User:TheThomanski, this article has generated 70 talk pages during its lifetime. In those pages, you can find 18 distinct discussions about the article title, involving 100s of editors. Of those 18 discussions, 12 are formal RMs. The most recent one is here [1] which had WP:SNOW consensus to not rename the article to 2008–2009 Gaza War. According to WP:RM, if there is any reason to suspect that a page move might be controversial, you are supposed to use an RM. Given the extraordinary amount of debate and discussion about this article title, I have reverted the undiscussed page move. Also note the move broke a lot of sub-pages, so any move will require work post-move to cleanup. -- GreenC 04:09, 5 October 2025 (UTC)

- First Battle of Gaza → First battle of Gaza
- Second Battle of Gaza → Second battle of Gaza
- Mountain War (Lebanon) → Mountain war
- 2006 Lebanon War → 2006 Lebanon war
- Third Battle of Gaza → Third battle of Gaza
– WP:CAPITALIZATION says very clearly in the first sentence that editors must "not capitalize the second or subsequent words in an article title, unless the title is a proper name." I was looking through the disambiguation pages linked via the 2023–present Gaza war and found all these articles with erratic capitalisation without an explanation immediately as to why these titles are like this. I would be bold and make these changes myself without consultation as they are very minor, but I chose to use a safer method because all of these articles are under an arbitration remedy which means there must bee some sort of contention. These new titles will also comply with WP:SENTENCECASE which is part of the article titles policy. If I missed any articles relating to Middle Eastern conflicts, I apologise but please know that this should be used as a consensus for future article moves if running into a similar issue.
Alternatively, there is an argument to be made about whether Gaza War (2008–2009) should be renamed to 2008–2009 Gaza war to make it consistent with titles such as for the 2012 Gaza war and 2014 Gaza war. Qwerty123M (talk) 01:43, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
- Note: one proposal, Mountain War, had to be altered because it is a redirect. Redirects are ineligible to be current titles in move requests. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. – welcome! – 19:45, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
- This falls under MOS:MILCAPS. Each conflict needs to be researched how sources refer to it, caps or no caps. The "default" proviso in MILCAPS is not permission to move existing pages without research, discussion and consensus, rather what you would do for a new article, or a no-consensus RM result. Given how each page needs its own research and discussion, a multiple move request is not a good idea. -- GreenC 03:23, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose multi-move. Each one has a different set of sources, and they need to be referred to. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 07:16, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose per peacemaker's comment. it seems like this format will the result in the glossing over of certain details, and I'd rather have care for these delicate topics. User:Easternsaharareview and this 02:55, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
